A Spiritual Place

On 1st day of our twelve days religious personal tour in pious Shravan month from Chennai to Trivandrum by taxi, we visited Sri Ramana Ashram, also known as Sri Ramanasramam, in Thiruvannamalai. The ashram which was home to modern sage and Advaita Vedanta philosopher Ramana Maharshi from 1922 until his death in 1950. It is situated at the foot of the Arunachala hill, to the west of Tiruvannamalai where thousands of seekers flocked to be in his presence. His Samadhi shrine continues to attract devotees from all over the world. There was pin drop silence and inspiring atmosphere at time of our visit. We also participated in evening Aarati. A spiritual and must visit place of Thiruvannamalai.

Place where you find yourself

This is a place where you can feel peaceful and calm. I used to come to Tiruvannamalai only to visit temple and Ramana Ashram. I am a devotee and strong believer of Bhagavan Ramana. If you would want experience some spiritual things then do come here and sit before him for at least half an hour.

Ashram at a serene location

Ramana Maharshi ashram is located about 3 km away from Arunachaleswar temple, on Bangalore route. It is on the foothills of Arunachala hill. Ashram is quite peaceful, it also has lodging facility but one has to book in advance. It has a devi temple and has the Brindavans of Ramana Maharshi and Vasistha Ganapati muni. It has a book store selling books on Ramana's teachings. Ashram also houses deers, peacocks and other animals as Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi loved all the animals.
