Ranebennur Blackbuck Sanctuary in Haveri District is located at a distance of around 45 km from Haveri town. It was declared a sanctuary on 17th June, 1974 with an aim to provide natural habitat to blackbucks. The core zone of this sanctuary is spread across an area of around 14.87 sq. km.

It is densely covered with scrub forest and eucalyptus plantations and is home to the endangered Great Indian Bustard and wolf. The number of blackbucks inhabiting the sanctuary is more than 6,000. The sanctuary also provides natural habitat to Krishnamruga.

Airani Gudda, the highest peak of the sanctuary, is known for sheltering various mammals such as hyena, wild pig, jackal, fox, langur, common mongoose, porcupine, hare and pangolin.

The ideal time to visit the sanctuary is between the months of October and March. Blackbucks can be spotted during the months of November to March, while bustards are easily seen between the months of February and June.
