Retreat Anand resort is one of the most popular hotel at Resort in Lansdowne it's situated in a valley and in a green forest (Uttrakhand). It's cricket ground, bonfire and Pools has very known popularity in the town. It's service and meals are also fine. Wooden cottage are in good condition and weather condition is sunny. It's situated in military/ cantonment area. End of all it's good resort to spend a healthy weekend with family or friends Group.
Absolutely amazing place to visit, our experience is really superb. Well you need to reach this place before 6 pm in evening but we reached around 8:30 pm in night and we saw a leopard on the way. Good place with local khana taste. Good cottages and wonderful decoration, lots of playing activities and superb scenery in morning. Good place to visit with friends and family to get full relax from hectic work.
Anand Retreat is situated right in middle of several pine trees - with a swimming pool, of course - don't expect it to be having blue tiles and too clean. The staff was very grounded and helpful. Food was pretty decent, although you can't expect it to be 5 star quality. Having said that, the experience at the resort was awesome, Mobile signals was an issue. Great place to spend time in nature's own beauty, very peaceful place.
The location of the hotel was good and convenient to reach. The interior and exterior of the hotel was good and attractive. The service and the staff were good and quick to attend the requests. The food was good and has nice quality also but it was expensive. They have parking and lift facility at the hotel. There were no delay happened in check-in and check-out process. I think the stay at this hotel valued my money. I would like to recommend this hotel to other travellers to go and stay there. I went to this place with my family and enjoyed the stay here.
Overall experience was good, not faced any problem to reach the hotel. Hotel was neat and clean. Check-in and check-out was on time. Staff members were well behaved and co-operative. Rooms were spacious, neat, clean and well maintained. All amenities like AC, T. V and geyser was available in the room. No view was available from the room. Food quality and taste was good, room service system was available. Activities like swimming pool, indoor, outdoor games were available in the hotel. Arranged own car for sightseeing and visited with family members. Wi- Fi connection was used. Parking facility was available in the hotel. Suggest including the facility of games for kids.
It was a memorable experience with my family. The hotel had nice locality and lovely people. Go there to enjoy and relax. It is less commercialized. Instead of going to Dalhousie, Khajjiar, Manali Shimla, places which are usually over crowded, this place is far better. Go there if you are in search for peace of mind.
Located in the pine woods far from the crowd. You can enjoy the sunset from your cottage only or take a walk around to any of the vantage points to have a view of sunset. No views of sunrise or the Himalayas are available from here. Good place for bird watching. Kids can enjoy in the woods and the flat places. You can request the staff (when the crowd is thin) for a barbeque and bonfire in front of your cottage We stayed for three nights. But two nights is enough for Landsdowne. In one day, you can cover all the places in Landsdowne and Tarakeshwar (28 km away). However, if you have plans for trekking or some other activities, you can prolong your stay The road to the resort will test the skills of any driver. A 4WD with sufficient ground clearance preferred. Uphills always have to be negotiated in the first gear. The road is a kutcha road, with some sharp turns and it is very narrow. So be careful, only at some points can allow an oncoming vehicle to pass you. The start of the road is from the bazaar a km of pucca road, but steep descent (be careful in the bazaar area) followed by around 3 km of the kutcha road, popularly called the Jungle Safari. Saw many guests at the resort vacate after a night's stay due to the road. People are too scared to drive again on it. Do not drive at night The food in the resort is overpriced, they are taking advantage of the fact that nobody would go to town more than 3 kms away on that treacherous road to explore for options or drive in the dark for dinner. Outside the rooms the ambience is good, but inside it is way below any standard. The linen and bedding appear not to have changed since years. Maintenance is very poor The resort has lot of potential, but needs to be run by professionals. While booking, do not reply upon the e-mail route as the owner hardly opens his mails.
The experience at Hotel Retreat Anand, Lansdowne was very good. My friend and I enjoyed a lot there. The room was nicely decorated and the service was also very good. The space, bonfire, pool and food service were also very good. However the approach road to the hotel needs to be improved . .
The check in was easy and people were nice. The place is silent and is inside a forest . However, the bazaar is little far from the place and if you consider driving it might be little difficult since the road is bumpy. Overall, it\'s worth a place to spend a weekend. Cheers.
Anand retreat is very good experience and good in location .But Kichen of anand retreat is small in the heavy season it takes time to provide food.
Lets Sum it up in three words Sad, Bad and Mad. It is actually a Junglee Retreat and nowhere a resort, trust me it is simply exists because you cannot find another place when you get there as it is a very small place. The sarkari ones by are a better bet. The so called rooms are celebrated tents with poorly plastered walls, full of creepy crawly creatures everywhere, and the independent lawns are 7X7 dusty ant ridden enclosures with discoloured, dirty and broken chairs. No Room service, No intercom and yes you have to go all the way to Canteen (not restaurant) for your morning tea. The real Lansdowne is still cooler and good place but Retreat Anand is much lower in altitude and hence warmer. The pools are dirt holes where you are sure to catch an infection, the only saving grace is home cooked food from cook Ashok's neat kitchen. These guys should invest heavily or just wrap it up. A wonderful place to test your patience and waste your money.
The name of this Hotel in itself says everything! Jungle Retreat!! Anand Retreat is known as Jungle Retreat too!! If you love silence, quiteness and various sound of jungle, do stay in this hotel. This resort is 3 km away from the Lansdowne main market area. You will never hear any honking horns of the vehicle as it is situated at the top. The Hotel has all types of rooms. Actually it wont be called rooms but lovely cottages. For couples, there are small cottages and for family of 4-5 people there are family cottages too at reasonable rates. Far from the crowd of the city and rush you will get here the calmness and peaceful environment. The resort is surrounded by pine trees and mountain view is great!
Peaceful, healthy and an awesome place to submit yourself to the nature. Put yourself in the hands of nature and trust me, it will take care of you. I found this place back in 2007 and is in love since then. I have been there thrice since, twice with my family, for the week long get aways and It worked every time. We return re-charged, re-activated and relaxed. The place provided my kid ample, grassy, space to run around with no boundary walls, gives a sense of freedom, while it feels naturally safe. and if we needed anything staff was more than glad to help us with, which was mostly milk. But they stayed hidden far from the view most of the time, that allowed us to be all by ourselves away from the watch full eyes. Evening walks in the woods, visiting the town with small cozy shops manned by people who have lived there since eternity, being greeted warmly, buying stuff that I never needed, was something I miss out here in my fast lane rat race. I buy useless stuff here too but its not quite the same. We spent most of our time at the resort, relaxing, hearing birds chatter, wind whistling thorough the pines, pointing our kid a butterfly flying by and falling asleep on the poolside chairs. mostly doing nothing. well, that\'s what I had paid for. It is a great escape from the everyday hustle bustle of a busy city, and not crowded like many popular destinations are, right in the natures lap. --amit
Amazing is the word..we went there 4 times with a group size of 40 and everytime the experience was awsome...staff is cordial and supportive...i dont think that being courteous doesnt mean that they are not professionals..they know how to take care of guests and that is what is required. They do not wear the dress but they know how to behave..Also the type of challenges they face in an isolated place like that and the way they deal with it is sometinh which makes them stand apart...hats off to these people to get the resort up and working in some of the most difficult times...Kuldeep Ji, the manager, always takes good care of the people and he is on his toes for ajny kind of help..Thank you for making our visits look so wonderful...God Bless!!
Started off from NOIDA on a Friday morning and after stopping at 3 places namely - Meerut (Begum Bridge) for Omlette breakfast, Bijnor (Panch Mukhi Hanuman Mandir, near Subzi Mandi) Gajraula Sweets for their famous PEDA\'s and at Monty Millions, we reached Lansdowne in 7 hrs flat. The drive was not the best as far as my experience goes. The worst patch of road was the one that runs parallel to a \'SUA\' a mini canal and takes us to Najibabad, It wasn\'t a road actually. Then there were some unfinished patches on the new upcoming road stretch. The drive from Kotdwar to Lansdowne was excellent. After reaching Lansdowne, the approach to the JUNGLE resort was too JUNGLEE. Anyone coming from the plains can easily go out of gear after having a look at the approach road - I am not sure if the ppl living on that terrain find that road amusing / challenging / risky / worthwhile??? But after re-collecting my guts, as I had already made the payments, had the bookings and with little interest to turn around and go back to NOIDA, I decided to take a chance. Soon I was on a \'Katcha\' road on a hillock with my whole family. Some bends were poorly cut. But the resort was what I was expecting it to be. I was looking for peace and serenity. I found that in abundance. The weather was not too condusive as on 5th June 2009 though. It did rain a bit during the first night which brought some respite. The pools were empty though. I had decided in favour of the jungle resort as they were the only ones who boasted about having pools. Little did I know that they were just pools sans water. All said and done, I was looking for relaxation, which I did get. I did not get out of the premises of the resort. Hence did not visit Tarakeshwar or the Museum. Treks were never of interest to me as they are the same anywhere you go. Neither do I consider my self a great outdoor person. The staff was very courteous and very considerate. They proved their dedication to service in more than one way. I can quote a couple. The first night, one of the motors that pumped water - konked off. The staff was fixing it till 11:30 PM. They set it right before they left. One person kept awake all night to make sure that the motor was pumping water to fill the tank sufficiently before the guests got up in the morning. Additionally, they had provided each room with 2 buckets of water (manually) before the guests slept. The second instance was - ICC T20 was about to start that day and their dish TV connection did not have the STAR Cricket channel subscribed. When I pointed it out they were prompt in making an online transfer to the channel and have it in place within no time. Now for the best part - My mobiles did not ring even for a single instance. Somehow a SMS did sneak in from somewhere. No ill feelings - as that assured me that my mobile was still alive. As far as I am concerned, I was there to relax and that I did. Softdrinks were not too chilled but were available. Food options were limited - which is in a way good. Better than making mockery of the dish which you try to mimic. And I wasn\'t there to try out the worlds best MOMOs, Kakori Kababs, Ras-malai, Mysore rava masala dosa, etc etc. The yellow dal they prepared well. Chapatis were TAVA chapatis. Dal Makhni was good too. Raita and curd was something which I did not find up to the mark. It could have been better. In a nut shell - Nice place to be if you want to escape the madding crowds of Delhi NCR. Try to go there for extended period. Whenever I go there next - I shall go for a week atleast.
