Ahmedabad

When you are in Ahmedabad and you have to visit only one place then it is Sabarmati ashram. 30 minutes are enough for this place, but if you wish, you can spend more time here while sitting in the garden, and walk through the riverfront area.

Sabarmati ashram is a great place

Sabarmati or Gandhi ashram is a wonderful place that every Indian should visit. Time to be spent is about 60 minutes. Can lean about pre independence days and freedom moments. Lot can be learnt by seeing pictures about Mahatma . Well built and maintained in peaceful atmosphere. And it is in Center of Ahmedabad.

A perfect tourist spot to know about Gandhiji

It was founded by Mahatma Gandhi in the year 1918 and was also known as Satyagraha Ashram. It is from here that Mahatma Gandhi began his famous "Dandi March" to the sea to protest against the salt tax imposed by the British. The Ashram is divided into many galleries namely audio gallery, video gallery, photo gallery, Gandhi in Ahmedabad gallery, painting gallery and library. It is a must visit tourist spot to know about Gandhiji.

Epitome of simplicity and the Power of Non Violence

If you are in search of your inner strength . This is just the right place for you. The life of Mahatma Gandhi is awe inspiring and the message of Non Violence is a revelation of the most powerful calm in you. The Cons were: No one to seek direction from, leaking taps in a well made new toilet facility, incomplete display of Map and Direction.

Better interest by authorities

Ashram felt as sacred as mahatma Gandhi. Sabarmati river looked as serene as gandhiji. You do connect to Gandhi when you are in the ashram. But I wish the authorities would seem more interested in the upkeenp of the place they could keep a guide to give interestin, g insights into his life there or they could keep a audiovisual show at least they could make modern toilets with SOAP for the visitors

Simple. Beautiful.

Nice quiet place. History is nicely depicted. It'll surely take you back in time. There's a prayer place where still prayers are conducted at 6pm like in the times of Gandhiji.
