Beautiful place of North Goa

A beautiful township in North Goa district surrounded by many famous villages and townships like Porvorim, Parra, Guirim, Sangolda, Pilerne, Candolim, Calangute and Nagoa and is in Bardez Taluka of Goa. It is situated about 10 Km from Panaji and 6 Km from Mapusa and just 3 Km away from Calangute. It has many renowned Institutions like Goa's First English Language School at Bairo Alto known as Mater Die, Lourdes Convent High School at Sonar Bhat, Government Middle School, it also houses many restaurants like Florentine Bar and Restaurant famous for its Chicken Cafreal Dish, Samrat Hotel and Restaurant famous for its Vegetarian dishes, many banks, shops in the Saligao market, Hindu temples like Sharvani, Dattatreya (at the Seminary Hill, Sonar Bhat), Laxminarayan (near market area) and Vittal temple (near the border with Sangolda). Two aged homes run by the Franciscan Missionaries and the great attraction is Mae de Deus Parish Church which was built in 1873. Here the official language is Konkani and peoples are very modest, indeed! It is a beautiful place of North Goa.
