Samadhi Mandir Overview

Ranked 2 of 20 sightseeing in Shirdi

Samadhi Mandir was constructed under the patronage of a millionaire from Nagour, who was an ardent devotee of Sai Baba. The Sai devotee, Shreemant Gopalrao, wanted to enshrine an idol of Murlidhar at the temple, but Sai Baba declared himself as Murlidhar. Following this, the temple became the Samadhi Mandir of Sai Baba. Made up of white marble, the samadhi is located amidst two silver pillars embellished with decorative designs.

At the shrine, devotees can also view a marble statue of Sai Baba seated on a throne with a silver umbrella, which stands open above it. Railings located near the samadhi are ornately carved. Morning song called Bhoopali begins the day that ends with the song Shejarati. Late Balaji Vasant made the idol of Sai Baba in 1954 using Italian marble. White marble stones have been used to construct the samadhi.

It is a part of temple

I asked people around whether there is a samadhi mandir. They said after aarthi the statue of baba will be put in samadhi for sleep. I saw one decorated rectangular in front of the statue of baba. Other devotees said it is the samadhi of Baba. It is the same mandir and not separate.

Best Temple to visit

I was planning to visit Shirdi from years, and in these january on my birthday I finally made it. It was a peaceful and soul defining journey for me. Samadhi mandir is the foremost thing to do in Shirdi. In a normal day, the temple having more than 15k devotees daily. Samadhi mandir is run by a trust so this temple is mostly nice. Shirdi is also a clean city with hotels & restaurants everywhere. You can depart or reach for or from anywhere in India easily. Kopargaon is the main railway station to reach Shirdi. I'll suggest you to visit temple mostly in the morning time as at this time you will find less crowd. But one thing I wants to warn you about that don't take any kind of offering for god from outside vendor and they usually cheats you with words. Mandir priest never accepts any offering from devotees except Garland's. You will get a free packet of "prasad" in temple only. I must say there's a chain of commission agents at every step of Shirdi and they wants to loot you. Baba is already very rich, they just need your presence not your offerings. So it's must visit place once in your life.

Divine experience

A place to feel the essence of Sai Baba, his samadhisthal and a divine experience. We went on a public holiday and hence the crowd was too much. But since we did an online booking, that specific queue was lesser than the other ones. Apart from viewing the samadhi and asking for divine blessings its also to see people coming from all of the country and even outside with the belief of well being.

Sai Baba Sansthan Temple and Samadhi Mandir are same

Everyday hundreds of thousands devotees visit Sai Baba Temple and hence it is always crowded. The time required for darshan varies depending upon the number of devotees present at any instant. Previously devotees were required to wail in a darshan queue for 3 to 4 hours during peak hours. Recently new biometric system is launched by the Sai Baba Sansthan (trust) to reduce waiting in darshan queue. Now every devotee needs to take bio metric pass (which is free of cost). The time slot and gate number from where devotee should enter is printed on the bio metric pass. Thus devotee need not wait in queue for hours together, instead he/she should go to the mentioned entry gate at the time slot given on the pass. Bio metric pass can be obtained from many locations including near PRO office and from different bhakta niwas (viz. Sai Ashram).Note that for senior citizens, pregnant women, women with small kid (age below 1 year) and differently disabled devotees, can directly enter from gate no. 3 to obtain biometric pass. My parents (being senior citizens) could get darshan in 15 minutes after entering from gate no. 3.

Blessings of Sai Baba

The day you reach at Shirdi automatically you feel refresh in the holy atmosphere. A new energy will boost up internally and all your problems get automatically solved. You never realise about your problem. The darshan of Baba Samadhi is also a unique experience. The management has taken a good step by allotting Biographic cards with Particular gates no to manage the Crowd and allowing everybody to take the darshan within a short time.

Baba Maharaja

What to tell about Baba Samadhi Temple? I'm a poor mortal to talk about Baba. This was my first visit to Baba's Lotus feet and I would come back again & againThe arrangements were great. In spite of long queue, there were not a single moment of desperations by Baba's Children. The queue was so disciplined. The staff were so Co-operative. Everything was due to Baba's blessings. Spiritual place

Attending Aarti along with Pooja and Bhajans was like receiving all the blessings from the universe. It was like standing next to Sai Baba like a kid and telling him about how you feel.

Larger than Life

For the first timer, information is not very clear. As we got down, many pseudo priests tried to help us buy VIP entry passes for 200/- and that is Gate 1, first entry. However, as you walk a little further, Gate 2 is family gate and free. Take a right and Gate 3 is for privileged and senior citizens. Try a non peak hour and Gate 2 is just as good. Mobiles are not allowed in.
