Devotee friendly

The temple priests were very friendly when we let them know that we specially came for this visit from Chennai. Though it was closing time (Noon) they entertained us by extending the time and helping us to have a good darsan of the lord and the goddess.

Nice temple

Flower shops, pooja materials are available very cheap in front of the temples. Cool drinks, tendercoconut are also available in almost all the temples. Darshan also can be made quickly.

One of 108 Divya Desams

This is a Vishnu Temple where Vishnu is found reclined on the adiseshan. This is one of the 108 Divya Desams of Lord Vishnu. This is in the Kumbakonam City.

Beautiful Vishnuvite temple

One of the oldest Vaishnavite Temples in South India. The Gopuram of the temple is an excellent example for architectural marvels of our country. Of course many temple who visit Kumbakonam may miss it in their first visit. Still it can be in their priority.

Beautiful Temple

Located in a non-nondescript corner of Kumbakonam this temple has rich history associated with this temple town. The Presiding Deity who is none other than Mahavishnu is known by the name of " Sarangapani" We went just before the temple was to close. Bereft of crowds usually associated with these temples, we had a peaceful darshan of the deity.

Gorgeous Vishnu temple

Sarangapani Temple dedicated to lord Vishnu is situated in the heart of the Kumbhakonam city and easily accesable by one and all. The whole temple looks to be drawn by chariot with beautifully carved huge elephants on either side. This exquisitely carved huge temple houses amazing statue of lord Vishnu in a reclining pose. Outside it, His consort Komalavalli (goddess Lakshmi) temple exists. Unlike normal temples there is no direct entry but from sides either south or north depending on the solar movement-Dakshinayana or Uttarayana. One should not miss this ancient temple in the itinerary

Part of Huge temples located in Kumbakonam

I would suggest to go in the early morning, its peaceful and can feel the sunrise and nature! Sarangapani is the largest Vishnu temple in Kumbakonam and has the tallest temple tower in the town.

A divine experience

Visit this temple for a divine experience. It is well-maintained and the staff are very friendly to tourists. I noticed that in the evening even local people visit the temple in large numbers. A must see temple if you are in Kumbakonam, It is easily accessible since it is situated in the centre of the city.

Amazing construction, beyond the skill

Its really amazing construction with very big rock stupas, its beyond engineer skills has nearly 108 feet gopuram. The temple has two openings one will be opened for first six months another the remaining time, it has nearly 15 feet long statue which is in a way of lord sleeping under the 7fold snake. Really it determines the power of the god.

Any can visit

The Lord adorned in all attire is a sight behold. One of the best known Vaishnavite shrine, it is a must for visit irrespective of one's leanings. We reached at the right time when pooja was being done and could worship in peace and avail his blessings.
