It's not always about Tiger sighting; but Tiger conservation.

My first ever visit to Sariska Tiger Reserve on 04. 10. 15 was entirely different from Ranthambore Tiger Reserve even in terms of flora, fauna & surrounding around. Still the hope was to have that one single sight of first tigress since 2008 when there were none. The first tigress ST2 aka Bhagani is to STR what Machali aka T16 has been to RTR. After all, Bhagani being Machali's daughter (& current reigning queen Krishna's sister) was first tigress to be trans located to STR in 2008-09 for the betterment of species & the reserve.Though, we couldn't see ST2 after chasing all those pug marks & waiting near her **** while she had been gone to bring along her litter all this time. But still, the safari seemed a short one where much more could have been explored if the guide & canter drivers would have been supportive like that of RTR. It was good to know that only 20-30% of the reserve is open for tourists for the sake of tiger population with least human intervention & poaching. After all species is more important than the sightings !! Long Live the race of National Animal!

Great experience at the Tiger Reserve

We had booked entry tickets online but had to obtain boarding passes after making payment of vehicle rent etc from the booking office. The queue for online ticket holders was very short. The booking office and the surrounding area is very badly maintained. The washrooms are housed in a shabby building and are stinking filthy. The only saving grace in the booking office area is the restaurant called Sariska Cafe. In total contradiction to its surroundings, the restaurant is neat and clean and serves delicious snacks and drinks at reasonable rates. Serving is quite fast. As for the Tiger reserve, we could not spot any Tiger during our 3 hour long safari in a Canter but we did see many other wild animals in their natural habitat.

Average safari

Average, we just saw deers, birds etc. The safari jeep was rusty and guide did not give much information anyway. Strongly recommend to only in "season" if you are coming to see tigers.

Can go by own car

You can get Jeep Safari or can go by own car. There are charges of entrance for own car also. Its very difficult that you get a chance to see a lion, there is also a Hanuman ji temple inside.

Enjoy the eerie feeling at the water holes

Tigers and Cheetahs are the main attraction. There are nine tigers in all. Kids enjoy the eerie feeling at the water holes. The wild calls of sambars, langurs and peacocks announce the movement of the Tiger. Memorable and will give you the incentive to come here again.Do take a single vehicle for yourself if kids are small. It will give you the flexibility to peel off early if required.

Lost Fame due to Tiger Poaching.

Go for the night Safari here. If you are lucky, you can spot some tigers, if not, it is still a very fun safari and you'll be able to see many different endangered wild animals.
