The hotel was chosen by the tour operator. So we landed there. Certainly not among the best but at a small place you accept it. The hospitality and the staff were good. There is a small swimming pool maximum depth 4 ft. Not the one for me. There is a lousy bar but offers you variety of drinks. Buffet food was ordinary but a la carte food was awesome. We tried prawn dish and it was just great.
Restaurant is basic. But that is okay. A&N is expensive because it is so far removed from mainland. Every single article of usage has to be ferried there, which is expensive. So be prepared for basic stuff everywhere, at extra cost. Like North-east. Rooms are well maintained.
I was warmly welcomed here and was given a refreshing drink. The hotel was four stars at that time but as it lies outside the city it did not cost much. The room was fabulous and the same was the room service and hence it is the excellent place. I visited the hotel on the eve of Christmas day and was invited randomly by their staff for the function. A lavish food arrangement was made for the guest. For enjoying music band was there and the whole party was held on the terrace. It was truly exciting and the garden around the hotel was cosy and the reception was spacious. For every traveller a bus is organized to ferry them to all the destination points in Andaman and Nicobar islands. If you are travelling here, this hotel is highly recommended.
I think every thing of this hotel is best and it has already cleared all services like a mirror. Food prices are exorbitant. Restaurant was also good and staff presentation was also so great maintained. The electric kettle in the room was not working. They had a menu in the room which was so special from this hotel. I like it. So this hotel is good.
I had been to Port Blair in May 2014. I found that the hotel Sentinel is an excellent place for the tourist. It is just touching the sea and near by the centre point of Port Blair with tourist activities. A long walk from hotel on sea side shows local college, water sports and than to local market There is a small natural pool attached with the Hotel where you can have a Bath with sea water. A huge floor has terrace attached to reception is also excellent. Even restaurant on ground floor is also very good location as it is directly attached with the inner garden and sea side. There is fountain and direct way from room area to garden and sea. Very nice, quite and pleasant place. Staff and management is also excellent. I love the place and would like to visit Port Blair again, just for staying at Sentinel Hotel. Cafe near reception and reception area is also very good.
Visited Port Blair for official purpose in the month of July with heavy rains battering the place. Booked the hotel online after Reading some reviews. Our room was not ready when we reached the hotel. However we were temporarily given their best suite for freshening up till our room was ready. Compared to the standards of a 4 star hotel, I would like to give only 3/5 rating even to their best suite. The geyser was not working, which was repaired after an hour of waiting. The bathroom of the suite was huge, but it did not have a cubicle area. A tub was available which also was not enclosed by glass. Basically lot of space wastage in bathroom area. Finally we got our room. Room was above average. Mattress was good. However the pillow covers were quite old and had a bad odour. Got them changed. There was a large easy chair in the room which had cloth upholstery. The upholstery was very dirty. Even the upholstery of the chair in suite was quite dirty. Bathroom was medium size and comfortable. The toiletries provided in the bathroom especially the soap, shampoo and cream looked quite old and did not look worth usable. There was inadequate lighting in the main room. There was no light near the table meant for writing. No light near the dressing mirror. Flooring was good. We had all our meals in the restaurant on the first floor. Breakfast was buffet with decent spread. Both south Indian and north Indian dishes were available. We ordered ala chart for lunch and dinner which was well prepared. Did not order any drinks. But they has a bar by the pool. The pool was quite small for a swim and was not maintained properly and the water was dirty. The hotel had just one. WiFi point and that too in the reception area only. So if you want to use your WiFi device, you have to stand in front of the receptionist. Farther you go away from the reception desk lesser is the range of WiFi. Overall an above average hotel with good food
The hotel location was very nice. The hotel was located nearby the beach. The food quality was good in the hotel. The food price was expensive. I check WiFi facility in the room. I had booked this room online. Behaviour of the staff was very nice. The activity was arranged by the hotel. I would suggest this hotel to reduce the food price. Room price was included in the package.
