This is the place to go if you want to experience the life of a royalty. The hotel is within the fort grounds and staying in the Maharaja suite is recommended. The next best room will be the Maharani room but it opens in the dining/reception area. Since it is a MP tourism property, arrangement of guide for Fort and other Orchha attractions can be done from the reception. The hotel staff had also helped in arranging the sound and light show tickets for us as well. Highly Recommended place and nicely maintained.
If you are visiting Orchha, Sheesh quarter is the best stay option for staying. It's a heritage property run by MP tourism and is in the Orchha fort compound. We had booked the Maharaja and Maharani Suite for ourselves and our parents respectively for 2 nights. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and ended up feeling like royals ourselves. Book the maharani suite only if your are travelling with old parents. The Maharani Suite opens into the dining hall and has no privacy. The Maharaja suite is just above the Maharani suite and the way up is via a staircase next to the dining hall. Staying here is a blessing if you want to see the light and sound show as the show ground is right next to the hotel. The hotel helps in arranging a MP tourism guide as well as entry tickets if requested. The food menu is the standard one as other MP tourism hotels with no price variation in spite of the fact that you are staying in a heritage place. Highly recommended and would love to come back here again.
Staying at Sheesh quarter makes you feel like a real Maharajah. It is located inside the Fort Chaturbhuj. The view is fantastic, as this at the top of the fort. The bathroom is unique, and the view from it is fantastic, its glass windows provide the great valley view. Good food and nice staff.
I loved the idea of staying in the palace! Finally a place to sleep in peace. Great room, open on the outside by three window on the outside, outdated furnishings and furniture wobbly. Fridge not very clean and cleaning the bathroom is rough. We were at the hotel only one day to visit Orchha. It is very interesting because it is a hotel within a strong and therefore not count on many of the modern comforts such as elevator for example. The accommodation is simple and rustic but the view is great, giving a beautiful image of the valley.
It is a privilege to sleep in the monument you are visiting. But, like the monument, the hotel needs some reform. The room was nice enough, though simple, like the bathroom. The entry in our room was made by a rather narrow staircase. It had two fans, one of which was quite noisy. The restaurant is well enough. On the other reviews I've read seems fairly different rooms, although it also appears that the two suites (Maharaja and Maharani) are too expensive for what they offer.
We stayed 2 nights in this beautiful hotel, the city and the hotel contribute to one of our best memories of our holidays. Ten room in a part of the Jahangir quarter, near the city centre on foot, but quiet. Large bedroom and bathroom, decent restaurant, really amazing setting.
Huge hotel and huge rooms! Fifty square meters of the room, marble, tapestries, fine wood furniture, 3 air conditioners. Also, the bathroom, even majestic (marble tub, octagonal), had some ingenuity (rusty pipes, etc). Restaurant of the hotel is great and the staff friendly and efficient. An advice, if you stay at Sheesh Mahall please book the best rooms to enjoy your full stay.
What appreciates the most was exceptional location on the banks of the river, where we can cross a shepherd watching his herd of Buffalo is refreshing in water, or laundresses. All without noise horn or shouting. Hotel does not lack charm inside. Rooms have a retro feel very nice and clean, the setting is good and relaxing. Pool is reallocated in one courses with good shade. The restaurant offers a buffet for all meals with a fairly varied selection.
I and my wife spent two nights here during last October. The room was clean and we did not find traces of disgusting animals. Still deserves to stay there because it's very of medieval atmosphere. The rooms had almost all suites and even the smallest was huge, with carpets tapestries and antique furniture, a little bit shabby but still fascinating. Also staying here you can enjoy the light and sound show which is held every evening in front of the Raj quarter, located there next to the hotel.
We had a wonderful evening, it was one of the most beautiful hotels of our trip. The food was good, the staff was very friendly. The location was just gorgeous and the rooms were very large and clean. We could have stayed another night. Also, the sunset was very nice to watch.
