Grand architecture

Mary Help Cathedral is the biggest churhc in Shillong. It is located in Laitumkhrah area near the old institutions. It is a historic building which was later rebuilt in 1963. The interiors are beautiful with frescos of Christ.

A nice Cathedral

It is nice to visit the place. Everywhere in the ground and upper levels of the cathedral are well managed for cleanness. It has beautiful decoration. The building is designed with aesthetic and architectural outlooks- nice to visit this place. The player halls at lower and upper levels keep deep silent and all religious people can enter or sit inside to respect Jesus Christ. There is a open space at the upper level surrounded with nice idols of Mother Mary with her son etc.

It is a serene place

The best time to visit the place is after 03 P.M as there are 3-4 church around and you can have a closer look into each and everyone. Try to be there before 05 P.M and please maintain silence throughout the visit and if possible pray for everyone. It is a serene place.

A Good Place

Although we are Hindu, we decided to visit this biggest church of Shillong and Meghalaya. We offered pray in main church, however we were alone at noon time. Very big campus, photography is allowed.

A church and not a tourist spot

It is a church and not a tourist spot. One stop which is included as a place by guided tour operators. Nothing to enjoy or view. You can walk on the elevated path around the church. Waste of time.

Peace in blue

This huge cathedral, all in blue (when I was there) stands tall among all the buildings nearby. Visit there for a quiet moment with yourself or immerse into prayer seeking the blessings of the Lord. A perfect place for photography too.
