The hotel is an oasis in the middle of a hospitality desert. The whole village or town of Shirdi is dotted with make shift shelters for pilgrims doubling up as hotels. Some of them do not have any concept of hospitality and cater to a population, which does not usually visit hotels and are therefore, adjusting to a lot of compromises. The head of the reception is a very competent lady called Jayeeta Bhowmick. She is someone who can firmly put the staff in place and also make a guest feel welcome at the same time. Very impressive manager and also hospitality professional; it is obvious she carries a lot of experience and can easily run a whole outfit all by herself.
As would be expected, our trip to Shirdi was of a spiritual nature. It was a trip long overdue and we finalized it less than a week before we actually made the trip. As a result there was not much time to research the various stay options there and we left it to our travel agent to take care of. After a pleasant drive from Pune, we reached Shirdi late in the evening a tad tired but happy to have made it after years of waiting. As our taxi drove into a small cul-de-sac which had a signboard with the hotel\'s name, we were a bit apprehensive. On driving through the gates of the Shraddha Inn, however, all our apprehensions were put to rest. It was a very pleasant first impression of the place, with a manicured lawn interspersed with other shrubs. The spacious reception area/lobby was befitting of the spiritual nature of the temple town. The huge bells which doubled up as chandeliers hung from the high ceiling were surreal. The reception was efficient and in no time we were escorted to our rooms. Neat, cozy, and inviting were the first words that sprung to mind on entering the rooms. On quickly refreshing and changing we were on our way to the temple - the hotel had arranged for us to be dropped near the temple. After a very heartening tour of the temple and \'darshan\' we were driven back to the hotel again. The buffet dinner was very satisfying and the cozy rooms just perfect after a long and eventful day. Special mention needs to made of the \'divan/bed\' in the room which was just right for our 6-year-old. It was a welcome addition to our family of 2 adults and 2 children in the room, as one \'double bed\' would\'ve been too cramped for the four of us. The following morning we realized the best was saved for the last - in the form of a sumptuous buffet breakfast. There was something for every palate and the fluffy idlis more than satisfied our true blue South Indian taste. In the time after breakfast and before checkout, we got a chance to explore the hotel some more - the landscaped children\'s play area, the pool, etc. For want of more time, we were forced to drag the children out of the play area. Check-out and payment was again hassle free. Without doubt, Hotel Shraddha Inn has been the most vital factor in making our Shirdi trip very pleasant and so much more memorable.
My visit to the hotel was on 30 Dec 06 to 1 Jan 07. The Hotel is great. It has a children park, a seperate Swimming Pool for kids. The best part is that the pool water is kept very clean, though the changing room needs a lot of improvement. The life guard presence was quite reassuring. The buffet was great with good ambiance & the food quite sumptuous. Big & Luxurious room (you need to ask for a Double Bed in Adv. or make do with 2 seprate bed). Meditation Hall, mousers, Swimming Pool, Great Resturant, a lovely children play park, for young ones - a special T.T , Chess & Carom room. Add to it a very reasonable priced shop that caters to almost everything Saibaba Pitc collection, Swimming costumes, Toys, sovereigns CD\'s etc. A great place to stay in. I really would not think twice on that.
When my beloved mother-in-law passed away recently after long illness, I reckoned that both my wife and I needed to spend some time away from home to recover from the physical and emotional stress. Since she had wanted to visit Shri Sai Baba's shrine for some years, I started looking out for suitable options for a relaxed, weekend stay on our anniversary weekend in August. I chanced upon a good deal on one of the travel websites in India for Shraddha Sarovar Portico, formerly Shraddha Inn and now under management by the Sarovar Group of hotels. Since we intended to travel for this trip by our car, at the time of booking, we had inquired about accommodation for our driver. Having been assured of suitable and free dormitory, we confirmed the booking . . We drove down on 14th August from Mumbai. A day before travelling, I had also emailed the hotel about making some flower arrangements in our room on arrival and on 15th August since it was our wedding anniversary. Strangely, there even an acknowledgement of the request! On the way to Shirdi, I called the hotel from my car to check if they were going to make any arrangements but due to poor connectivity, I talk clearly with the hotel staff. I had expected they would try to call back but there was no such action. When we reached Shirdi, it took us 30 minutes just to locate the property and one of the reasons for this is the fact that the group seem to have arranged for any signs along the narrow roads leading off from the Sai Baba temple, especially since the name and management is different. Of course, the delay meant that we reached almost at the end of the lunch times at the in-house restaurant and had to rush through the check-in. The property itself is laid out like a resort, although it is a small area. A positive aspect of the location is the relative peace around, although it is only about 5 minutes drive from the temple complex back entrances. The lobby is small and is dominated by a huge traditional bronze lamp hanging from the roof and level with the first floor it's the most distinctive element of the hotel and is an apt touch. When we entered the room, I realized that the hotel staff had NOT at all taken any action to meet my special request for flowers. When I called the front desk later from the room, I found the person on duty had no knowledge of the request! When pressed for action, the person told me it be possible because the person who handled such arrangements was on leave for the weekend and flower shops would be closed-- this in a temple town The room itself was compact but quite cosy and there is a calming, sandalwood fragrance wafting through the corridors on every floor, so the overall effect is nice if you like that sort of thing. A flat TV, mini bar and modern bathroom complete the amenities in a double room, and there is generator back-up as well The lunch at the restaurant, not part of the deal, was vegetarian of course but was sumptuous if not extraordinary. We were aware of the All-veg aspect and we mind that. Out of respect, no place within a few kms radius of the temple serves non-veg, so keep that in mind when you stay at Shirdi But one of the disappointments for us was the poor quality of service staff had to be reminded several times for basic things and only after I chanced upon the GM for the hotel at breakfast on 15th August did things move faster but that much use for us since we were anyways checking out that afternoon, having had to cancel 1 day's stay for other purposes. The GM offered to mail the travel website to refund half of the amount paid and his staff did mail the website the same day but later it turned out the website never got that mail, so we ended up losing money there. Another disappointment was when we found in the evening that the dormitory accommodation was smelly and the bathroom separated from the beds for staff! It was too late by then for our driver to find nearby lodges and poor man to spend the night in the car warding off mosquitoes and insects from the resorts trees and garden .
The hotel is located at a very strategic location, it is very close to the Sai Baba temple. They give complementary pick and drop service to temple. They also have enough parking space for visitor's car . The food they serve is extremely good and delicious, it was perfect interms of its taste quantity and presentation. Further the room service was so good that the food was served hot in our room. The food at the breakfast buffet a little disappointing, as there were less variety of food, and the food served were cold. Though the limited people working there had to struggle a lot yet they managed to give us hot food, I really appreciate their service and commitment . The hotel is big and has huge lobby. It is nicely decorated with traditional Rajasthani furniture and fixtures. The rooms are big, however the washroom was not so clean, the bed linens were torn and dirty . The room service was too good especially the maintenance guy that came to repair the kettle in the room. They were prompt and courteous, however the receptionist or the service/response from the reception was equally bad. At the time of check in we were told that queen size bed room is not available so they said they will join the two single beds of double bed room. They also said during the day if they find any queen bed size room then they will shift us there. To our surprise neither they shifted us nor they joined the beds. I had to call the reception many times to get it done still there was no response till this maintenance guy helped us . During our check out time they were least bothered to ask for any feedback. In my opinion if you don't expect good service and not bothered about the room as well then you should go for this hotel. I had been to other Sarovar hotels and this was the worst experience I had with Sarovar's front desk.
