Shri Varad Vinayak Temple Overview

Ranked 1 of 2 sightseeing in Durshet

Shri Varad Vinayak temple was constructed in 1725 by Peshwa Sardar Ramji Mahadev Varad Vinayak Biwalkar. It has a 25 ft high dome with a golden pinnacle and two idols of Lord Vinayak in the main sanctum.

These idols are installed in the two corners, with the idol on the right side made of white marble and the one on the left covered in vermillion. The idol on the right is unique as the trunk of the god is turned towards the right.

To the north of the temple there is a Gomukh (the shape of a cow’s mouth) from where holy water flows down. The temple is also famous for the Nandadeep that is continuously burning at this temple since 1892.
