Siliserh Lake Overview

Ranked 1 of 20 sightseeing in Alwar

Spread over an area of 7 sq km, the Siliserh Lake forms the backdrop of Siliserh Palace, which has presently been converted into a heritage hotel. Built in 1845 AD by Maharaja Vinay Singh, the Siliserh Lake has a number of domed cenotaphs. Lot of migratory birds arrive at the Siliserh Lake which is located within the forested inclines of the Aravalli Hills.

Fishing in the lake is a major activity. From the balcony of the palace hotel, the lake can be seen sprawling across a wide expanse. During the days of the maharajas, the garden palace of Maharaja Vinay Singh was watered with the waters from Siliserh Lake through long pipes. The lake is situated at a distance of 13 km from Alwar.

Magnificent Lake

The day was 07. 05. 2009. We 5 of college friends were supposed to attend a wedding in Alwar city of Rajasthan. While we had some few hours in kitty so we all thought of spending some time exploring the famous Siliserh lake. The lake is at some distance from Alwar city on NH-248A. The lake & the waterspread area was scary enough to prevent me to step in for some boating. On that very day, to our bad luck there also had been some suicide case wherein some youngster drowned in the lake. There had been minimal crowd because of the off season & summer heat. The lake is also know for crocodiles. The huge water body with hills around was just magnificent. Will look forward to visit the lake in coming future with a day stay at the lake palace at the edge of the lake which has been innovative constructed.

Definitely a different place to visit

Great views and a heated pool looking up to the horizon. Place in itself is serene and beautiful. You are charged a nominal fee/cover charge of Rs. 50 per person which can be redeemed against refreshments at the terrace restaurant. Boating facilities also available.

Magnificent Lake

The lake is at a distance of about 10 Km from Alwar City. One has to take a diversion of 4 Km on a narrow road towards right on the way to Sariska Tiger Reserve. It is quite a big Lake surrounded by hills. There was sufficient water in the Lake for enjoying boating. The RTDC Hotel Lake Palace is situated on one edge of the Lake and view of the Lake from there is breathtaking. A lot of garbage was floating near the edges of the Lake and needs cleaning. The lower floors of the hotel seem to be in an urgent need of repair as lots of shrubs and trees were found growing out of the walls which may even endanger the building. The entry ticket of Rs. 50 to the lake entitles one to a coffee/a cold drink or a water bottle from the restaurant at the Lake. Overall a beautiful place not to be missed.

Marvellous view of lake surrounded with the Aravalli hills

We went to visit the lake from Bhiwdi which is about100kms but from Alwar it is very close. The beauty of the lake made the 100km journey worthwhile. The route to the lake is good with greenery all around. We reached the Lake Palave Hotel in the morning at 10 am. From the terrace of the hotel the view was marvellous, with Arravalli Hills surrounding the lake. The water was sufficiently clear, sipping coffee sitting on the terrace and enjoying the cool breeze from the lake gives energised feeling. The boating in the lake is a good experience, we enjoyed the stay and lunch at the hotel. A wonderful picnic spot for the weekend.

Parking fee is there

This lake is somewhere in between Sariska and Alwar. A road goes to the lake in a RTDC hotel. You have to pay parking if you are not staying in Hotel. There is no entrance fee but you have to pay for boating, you can get good snacks in Hotel.

A good destination for nature lovers

Siliserh lake is a good destination for nature lovers. You can be delighted by the boat facility. Surroundings are all green, and it's better if you visit in the rainy season.
