We got the opportunity to spend a night in the most lavish & luxurious Houseboat in Kerala! The Spice route Houseboat - called was our home for a night, and we have asked for more It is a beautiful, fully reconditioned Houseboat with 3 large rooms and an attached bathroom. A Boat captain, Chef & a steward stay in the boat to help you with your needs The Houseboat is docked between 5. 30pm-7am to allow locals continue their usual fishing During the few hours we were moving - it was an exhilarating experience. To get to see a sunset and an equally beautiful sunrise is really a blessing Top it all with yummy food, the most comfortable stay, educative and warm staff, and great company! This will be the most memorable of my stays in Kerala!
Experienced premium luxury at Alleppey Backwaters in the Houseboats provided by Spice Routes. Our houseboat name was Fennel. It is just 7 days old as of today Nov 18, 2017 The deck is beautifully done with air condition, 2 sofas, a large dining table and best part being no television. Just soak in the sunrise and sunset sitting on the deck Rooms are extremely spacious with straight ceilings and a large window which looks just like a photo frame. King size bed, side tables, dressing table, wardrobe and an LED TV which we promised not to start at all Bathroom is superbly done with separate Bath enclosure and all premium toiletries provided All in all its the Best Houseboat experience and ideal for honeymooning couples, family stay and group stays. Fennel has 3 bedrooms and a nice kitchen. A nice richly experienced chef, a captain and a helper on board always. Food is yummilicious. Kerala delicacies at its best.
We drove down from Kochi to Alleppey for the houseboat experience. We really know what we were getting into. It was a good one-and-a-half-hour ride from Kochi. We were welcomed with traditional Chenda Kottu music which was really fun and full of energy. With that we were welcomed with beautiful garlands and fresh coconut water. The minute we saw the houseboats we were in love. We knew the day ahead was full of wonderful memories. The company Spice Routes have luxury boats. They are easily traceable on Facebook and Instagram. They have five boats each named after a spice like cardamom and fennel. Each boat is unique and different from inside. Some have two bedrooms. Some have three. Some have five bedrooms too. They have a lavish dining table and a drawing room or a lounge area on each boat. Check-in time is from 12pm and next day check-out is 9 am. As soon as you get inside the houseboat you fall in love with the kind of facilities that are available on the boat. Hot water shower, clean and hygienic washrooms and towels, beds nicely made, dining table beautifully laid and kitchen again very hygienic and clean. We were offered everything that you expect in a five-star hotel. The crew was so nice and polite. They were very helpful and would help you with anything. As soon as we started and settled in the boat we were welcomed with a warm lunch and the boat started to sail. We had such lavish spread of food on the table - from fish fry, to papad, to chutney to rice, sambar, beans, coconut cabbage, chicken curry, payasam and the list goes on. We accompanied our lunch with some beer and it was a windblown combination. The food tasted excellent. We stop licking our fingers. By the time we finished our lunch it was time for the sunset. We stood outside at the deck and watched the sun setting. We were served delicious tea and coffee along with banana fritters at tea time. After the sunset the boat goes back and docks at the edge. You thereafter just enjoy the evening on the boat or can step out for an Ayurveda massage that Spice Route owners have arranged on the land . . The room and all are a little rustic, but the message is authentic and really relaxing. But since we had plans of drinking crates of beer we skipped the massage and opened our bottles. Thereafter we had fruit coming and the beer flowing continuously. The highlight of the evening was our fellow traveller cooking crabs and oysters for us and they were so finger licking good that we ate like pigs and drank like fish. The evening was full of fun and frolic. We called it a night at 12. Next day morning we were woken up with bed tea and a beautiful sunrise with the boat on the move again. The boats dock from 5:30pm-7am to allow fishermen to put nets. Around those hours - it was a windblown experience - which we will remember for life. My verdict don't stay just for one night. Too less for an experience. At least stay for two nights and enjoy the luxury that the houseboat has to offer you.
We stayed at Spice Routes Fennel house boat at Alleppey which was really a luxury one. When you get into the house boat it will make you Wow The living area is big and fully reconditioned with some very comfortable sofas and puffy, a centre table with a fruit basket and flower, a 6 seater dining table, beautiful hanging lights and big glass windows Bedroom is spacious, with queen size bed, side tables and mirror. There is a wardrobe in the luggage keeping area. Bathroom was clean and all the essential items was there Food was excellent. Both veg and non veg was there with the fresh catch of the day Just get into the house boat and relax yourself and enjoy the beautiful backwaters. Highly recommended.
The Prana restaurant is in Ernakulam Kerala very famous for its non vegetarian cuisines specially Sea food. Of course they offer great vegetables dishes too. I ordered a fish dish which came with an array of vegetables dishes too including pickles and Rasam. Of course the nimboo pani and mint ice cream was the best. If you are driving around this is a good restaurant T with quick service.
