Sree Dharma Sastha Temple, prominent among all the Sastha temples, is located in Sabarimala of the Pathanamthitta District. References from the great epic Ramayana state that Lord Parasurama sanctified the deity of the temple at the foot of Sabari hills. The temple is a symbol of secularism and communal harmony and is visited by devotees of various religions.

On the first day of the 4th month of the Malayalam calendar, various pujas are done and ved mantras recited in honour of the deity, continuously for 41 days. During this Mandalam period, tourists and devotees greet each other by Swami Saranam which is reciprocated as Ayyappa Saranam. The idol enshrined in the temple represents the Lord Ayyappa in a sitting posture of meditation. Often called as Nirvikalpa Samadhi by the natives, the shrine also houses images of Lord Vishnu as Mohini and of Shiva as Shaastha. Tourists can easily reach this holy site after trekking up the Sabari hills.
