Dedicated To Lord Chandreshwar An Incarnation Of Lord Shiva

Sri Chandranath Temple is situated on Chandranath hill, 14 Km from Margao near village Proda on Quepem Road, and hill is about 350 Mtr high, but fine steps are there to reach the temple, so this Chandreshwar temple is called by locals as Chandranath Temple, dedicated to the Lord Chandreshwar, an incarnation of Lord Shiva, means the Lord Of Moon. The temple is associated with the Bhoja dynasty who were the rulers of the region till the 8th century. Also from the Bhoja's family deity, Lord Chandreshwar the name of their capital Chandrapur (today's Chandor) was derived. Inside the temple's inner sanctum, the Shivalinga is made of a natural outcrop of rock and is placed in such a way that it gets bathed on full moon nights in moonlight. Insight of this temple cleanses your heart at the same time natural scenic views of grand coastline will be divinely impressive.
