Race of Grace

Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple is situated in Vemulawada about 38 Kms away from Karimnagar, which attracts pilgrims from far in thousands numbers everyday. This temple was built in Chalukyan era between 750-975 AD by King Rajaraja Chola and the townspeople are all praise for its architect Kunjara Mallan Raja Raja Perumthachan who has proudly carved his name on the temple wall. The temple complex houses several temples dedicated to deities like Sri Rama, Lakshmana, Raja Rajeshwari Devi. Inside is a massive shiva linga. There are a number of open galleries in the complex that are worth seeing; especially the Mirror gallery (Addala Mantapa) and a corridor with a number of Shiva idols that is Kotilingala. The tank at the temple, called Dharma Gundam is a ritual tank, by itself is a place of tourist interest since it's believed that the water has curative properties. Pilgrims first bathe in this tank & then proceed for Insight. Inside the temple one Kashi Vishwanatha Swamy temple located. The shrine deserves a special mention in terms of its architectural grandeur and spiritual sanctity and is one of the famous Shiva Temple. The presiding Deity Lord Raja Rajeshwara in the form of Neela Lohitha Siva Lingam in the main sanctum who is locally popular as Rajanna who is adorned on both the sides by the idol of Sri Rajarajeswari Devi on the right side and to the left is the idol of Sri Laxmi Sahitha Siddi Vinayaka, is known for his boundless mercy in fulfilling the wishes of the devotees. This temple also has a very special offering made by devotees called' Kode Mokku. Kode mokku is a ritual where the devotee makes the Pradakshinam means ambulatory of the temple with a kode means bull which is vahanam means the vehicle Nandi of Lord Shiva. Interestingly there is a Dargah of Hazrat Baba Bagh Sawar, inside the temple complex where all devotees offer prayers, irrespective of caste and creed.Vemulawada has many good Hotels and restaurants including Haritha of Telangana Tourism. The atmosphere remain so divinely and attractive one forget everything and I was watching the Race of Grace among the devotees who came from far. After this visit one may register his/her presence at Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy a Lord Hanuman temple and Fort Elgandal on the way while going back to Karimnagar.
