Temple is known as Somaskanda temple as all family members of lord Shiva are present in the temple. It is a vast temple, with beautiful sculptures all around the temple walls. Large temple complex

One of the largest temple in Tamil Nadu. Famous for its chariot which is also very large in size. This led to the Tamil saying Thiruvarur Theru, for anything heavy and big in size.

Gigantic temple of Thiruvarur!

The complex is so big that you need to enquire the locals before entering in about the correct system or route of worship. The temple has a dilapidated complex of pillars. The architecture is so beautiful and elegant that makes it one of the important temples of south india.
