Srivaikuntam Overview

Srivaikuntam is a temple dedicated to one of the forms of Lord Vishnu, known as Srivaikuntapathi Swami. The temple has a gopuram and mandapam that are decorated with numerous sculptures of elephants, yallis and warriors. Another mandapam called the Ekadasi Mandapam is also adorned with various beautiful sculptures.

This temple is believed to have served as a fort during the days of conflict between the East India Company and Kattabomman, a chieftain from Panchalankurichi. The Kailasanathaswamy Temple is famous for the six inscriptions that belong to the period of Veera Pandiya Kattabomman.
