St. Cajetan's Church in Assagao is having beautiful dome design like St. Alex's Church Of Calangute, it was built in 1776 along with a cemetery. This church is dedicated to Saint Cajetan, his name was Gaetano dei Conti di Thiene, who was born on First October 1480 and died on August 07, 1547. He was a member of Oratory of Divine Love in Rome. He worked as a diplomat for Pope Julius II, in 1506 but he was not recognized as a Saint till 1516. He found a Hospital for incurables and a Bank to help the poor. This Roman Catholic Church is divinely and many monument are visible in its courtyard like Grotto, statues etc. This church is situated in Assagao close to Anjuna and Vagator. Dedicated to Hunter of Soul

St. Cajetan was born on 01 Oct 1480, Gaetano dei Conti di Thiene, to pious and holy Catholics parents, in Vicenza, Italy. He was known as Hunter of the Soul. His main attention towards the services to the mankind and a deep affection towards the deprived ones, lead to be a priest at the age 36. Cajetan died in 1547 in Naples and was beatified on October 8, 1629, by Pope Urban VIII, and canonized on April 12, 1671. His remains are kept in the church of San Paolo Maggiore in Naples. As Assagao is just taking a shape of beautiful colony, this Church which is dedicated to St. Cajetan became a landmark for the area. This Church is situated on a raised area and at Mapusa Anjuna Highway. It was built in 17th century, a well maintained in Portuguese/Gothic architectural style example, having a divinely atmosphere.

I loved this one!

Take a look at this church immediate after you have crossed the Viceregal Arch. Is there anything vaguely familiar about this building? It is. Take a closer look. Look at the dome above. Now you get it? Yes, this church built by the Italian Friars in the 1660s, was modeled on St. Peter's!
