The Most Blessed Chapel

St. Francis Xavier's Chapel was rebuilt in 1884, as the original which was built in 1545 and due to epidemic changes this chapel fell into ruins and re built, in Doric Style of Architecture, which made a unique masterpiece as its interior is also unique with one Altar only, it is located on the bank of Mandovi river, close to Mapusa. St. Francis Xavier, the patron Saint of Goa, lovingly called Lord Of Goa, died in 1552, on his way to China, and his body was brought to Goa in 1554 and kept in the Basilica of Born Jesus Church, body housed in a silver casket, is brought in a conventional emission by several priests to the SE cathedral every 10 years for philosophizing. The mortals remains can be seen through a glass case in this chapel. This is considered the most blessed chapel, as the real name of St. Francis Xavier is Don Francisco de Yesu. Easy to reach through NH-4A.
