Good trip . Nice weather conditions . Fantastic homestay . Good hospitality . Tasty food . Not able to cover up much places due to the travel distance for each place. Few places crowded though . Except for the leech experience in the forest( completely unaware of the leech bites), sight seeing was good

We had gone Sundara Mahala in end October and beginning of November 2016. Right from our arrival there till we left the premises we were very well taken care of. Our old parents were also properly looked after, like in a close relative's house. It was a pleasant stay surrounded by nature and great collection of books. Evenings were well spent with Mr. Murali and Mrs. Prabha our hosts. (Incidentally the word 'host' may not be proper here, as they were one amongst us with the kind of affection and concern they showed for us) . The rooms were clean and well maintained. Vegetarian food was very good. Every thing from our transport from Calicut, advice on local sight seeing and till our departure were properly planned by them . The hospitality and comfort were way beyond expectations. I have already recommended to others who look for vegetarian home stay in Kerala.
We wanted a long driving holiday from Bangalore to Wayanad via Mysore, to experience the natural surroundings to end 2016. We drove from Bangalore, stayed in Mysore, drove to sultan bathery, saw a dam, Jain temple, & stayed at a hotel overnight. Drove to Wayanad, visited Banasura dam, viewpoint, lake & reached the homestay. We were welcomed in a very warm & friendly manner to sundara Mahala by the hosts prabha & murali. All along the tour we were guided by prabha who had suggested a itenary to minimise to & fro travel & definitely helped us. The Mahala was very lovely with large parking place, large family size berooms with clean bed sheet & rugs, & a well maintained bathroom. The very friendly atmosphere, good vegetarian food & the lush green open spaces was a welcome change from any cramped hotel, & it is a definite recommendation for a family stay specially for vegetarian food. We stayed only overnight, unfortunately due to our schedule & hence could not participate in any other activities. Hope to visit again.
Allotted room was neat and clean. Behaviour of the staff was friendly. Servicer was done on time at the hotel. There was no delay in check-in and check-out. The hotel was located in the city. The hotel location was good. The hotel appearance was nice. The activity was not arranged by the hotel. I had visited this hotel with my family. I would not suggest anything to this hotel. The food quality was good and tasty. Garden was not available at the hotel. I had complimentary breakfast in the hotel and it was good quality. The hotel destination was good.
The overall experience was very good. The destination of the hotel was good. I had booked the room by online. The hotel was conveniently located. The parking facility was good. The room facility was well maintained. The food quality was very good. The activity was not conducted at the hotel. I don't have any suggestion for this hotel.
We had stayed in Sundara quarter during the following days from December 29th to January 1st 2014. We were a family of 12 people (Mix of all ages, inclusive of 4 people who were above 60) and we had taken 3 rooms on a special request from Prabha and Murali. Generally they give 2 rooms and on request they did give their room additionally. Considering we had people in all ages (with 2 kids and 1 infant) service rendered was beyond one could imagine. Food was awesome. We were all strictly vegetarian and Part of our family was from Trivandram and so well versed with Kerala based Tamilian Food. We got the exact aroma and taste as we use to get in my house. Quantity and Quality was quiet good to cover all people. You don't have to visit any other place and just stay in Wayanad in Sundara quarter and have their elaborate brunch and dinner would be good enough. Important thing is Prabha customizes the food both Brunch and dinner based on different guest requirements which is really awesome. Both Murali and Prabha are very nice people always wanted to spend time talking about history of Sundara quarter and also about various topics of your interests and they try to spend time with each of one of the family members. Both of them are vivid book readers and you can talk to them on any topic you want. In fact 3 days our stay in Sundara quarter looked like as if we had attended one of the closest one's marriage. With so much of front yard for kids to play around, kids too enjoyed their time. Also they were detailed in explaining us where to go everyday and where to stop for Lunch. Also customized our daily trips based on the elders in our family. Kind of book collection both E-Books and Physical Books can keep you occupied for couple of days. I would definitely re-visit them just to stay in Sundara quarter and enjoy their hospitality. Adithi Devo Bhava - Perfect Words for their hospitality. I would encourage everyone to visit their place and you would not get disappointed for sure.
We visited Sundara quarter as a family of four (2 kids of 7 & 11 years) in early January. We have had an absolutely wonderful experience here. Our hosts, Prabha, Murali and Prabha's mother were wonderful and made us feel part of their family. They cared greatly for all aspects of our experience including food, our stay and the places we visited - this made it truly enjoyable. The food is very homely and absolutely delicious, all prepared by Prabha and her mother - a combination of North Indian and traditional Kerala cuisine. The children loved playing with their friendly dog, Tia, the wide open space in front-yard or the tire swing in the backyard - so much so, that at one point they'd rather stay home than travel! We felt that we were visiting someone whom we've known for a long time Our travels and experiences with Nature in the mornings were really enjoyable, as were our long conversations in the evenings. Several places of interest are close by and within driving distances. The home stay is also just outside the town of Kalpetta and very accessible to shops Sundara quarter is a 112 year old heritage home whose earlier residents have been involved strongly in the freedom movement. It was humbling to know that Gandhiji had visited this place. Murali has preserved several of the furniture and articles from those days, which adds to the charm of this place. He has stopped short of making it a museum :-) The place in itself is a destination worth seeing The warmth you feel in this place is something to be experienced. Please make it part of your travel and experience joy!
Good food, good music and good conversation !. Our trip to Wayanad was a pleasant one. I say this because Wayanad itself is an incredible place and also because the hosts at our homestay were warm and welcoming. The three days spent at sundara Mahala were very calming. Not only is the bungalow beautiful, it is also home to three of the most interesting people I've met. There is the lady of the house Prabha aunty, who is kind understanding and patient. There is murali uncle who I think can be best described as a storyteller, with loads of interesting information and facts to share. Then, there is the lovely paati. She is also very soft spoken and accommodative. The mother daughter duo cook the yummiest and best food. To conclude my tiny rant about Sundara Mahala only three things come to mind - Good food,
I will try to keep count of the reasons why my trip to Sundara quarter in Wayanad turned out to be a memorable one. First, Prabha, Murali, and Amma are wonderful people to be with. They are simple, gracious, and welcoming; I remain grateful for their friendship and affection. Second, the estate is a lovely place to be in. The house is very tastefully done, and an example of what understated style and comfort mean. The premises - the trees, flowers, and vegetation - are soothing to the soul. Third, the food offered within the house is tasty and a revelation, especially for a philistine like me who had a pathetically limited conception of what Keralite vegetarian food could be. As for the food outside the house, I have become addicted (no shame in admitting it) to the parota and the range of non-vegetarian splendours available commonly everywhere. Fourth, the weather, as I experienced it right before the monsoons, and from what I understand it to be throughout the year, is not just pleasant, but a pleasure. Fifth, the combination of space I had for myself and the delightful company of the family made the balance just perfect for a holiday where I had solitude but was never lonely. Sixth, there is the wonder of Kerala to be explored outside the homestay, and the daylong drive I went for was a sight to behold. It is a beautiful state, no two ways about it. The beauty, to add, is of the more consistent kind rather than the ravishing sort, and it is an ambience that stays with you, in everything you do. Seventh, my long conversations with Murali, and the relatively shorter ones with Murali and Prabha, on just about everything under the sun gave me great perspective on the business of living. Eighth, the hundreds of gigabytes of movies I picked up from Murali give me great company, evening after evening. That's eight for the moment. I am sure to pick up another eight when I go there next, which should be pretty soon. Do go there, and keep your own count of all the reasons why you would like to keep going back to the heaven that Sundara quarter is
