We have been to this hotel earlier by January month for a 2 nights and 3 days stay, before arriving to the hotel, we contacted the hotel (Satish) was the person guided us like the day 1 when we arrive we can go to the nearby places and day 2 and day3 for sight seeing. When we reached the hotel, Satish was not there, Jayaprakash was the person who guided there. The hotel arranged for the sightseeing, they have contact with the local travel agency and by the last day for sightseeing we checked out the room by morning and confirmed with the hotel, if it gets late while returning they promised to deliver our luggage at the bus stand, but the travel which they arranged was not good and while returning the vehicle was breakdown at the middle, and we called hotel for the luggage but they said we have to come and collect and the hotel will not deliver our luggage. When we reached the hotel and inquired about it, Jayaprakash was not there and the person at the reception said like they are not responsible since by morning there was other staff and hotel will not deliver the luggage at any cost. The drawback about the hotel are the location of the hotel was a. 5 km away from the chairing cross bus stop. Autos will be charging Rs 50 to the hotel. The flaws which I observed at this hotel was the curtains in the room, it was fluorescent in color and the room was too bright early by 6, the room could have another curtain dark color thereby we can choose either to stay in a dim light or a bright light. The curtains in the wash room didn't even cover the whole window. The food at the hotel was below average but other good thing is they are able to get the food from outside hotel, but that hotel was a non veg hotel. Since the climate was too cold, I opted for room heated and asked for it at the reception and the heater they provided was a small one "Nova Oscillating Ptc 902 Unique Fan Room Heater". We got the room heater around 10:30 pm and we waited that the room would get heat after 30 minutes but didn't and later waited till 11:30 but the room was chill as such, the heater was nothing of no use, the hot air from heater didn't even reach the bed. Later by 12 I planned to return the room heater at the front office but it was closed and all the light where shut. When we returned the room heater they initially charged Rs 400 and later explaining about the useless heater they charged us half rate Rs200. I have witnessed at other hotels at Ooty, where the room heater are good and the entire charge only Rs 200/250. Another drawback, is that the flask at the room did not sustain the heat less than 2 hrs. They did not provide any at our stay. The hotel didn't have any product of branded type, all the products which I saw was of a low quality The good things about the hotel was the front ambience of hotel with the lawn was good, the room was designed with wooden flooring. Hot water availability Overall we had a very bad experience, this hotel well suits for the bachelor's or for the aristocrats.
I visited Ooty for 3 days in June. I reached Ooty on Sunday. The rates on weekend for the other hotels were very high so I picked this hotel for one day and later moved to Fern Hill for the next 2 days. The hotel is very near to the market. The approach road is not in very good shape and it take you through the residential area Exterior of the hotel is good with a small garden. The rooms are big in size and bathrooms are okay. The ambience of the rooms is very basic. It has a small TV and only south Indian channels. The hotel staff is cooperative. The hotel doesn't have a proper restaurant. There is a small kitchen from where you can order some basic food. The option are very limited and the quality is not very good I would suggest to pick this hotel if you are on a business trip and want to save money. Not good for couples on a romantic trip.
I had been to Ooty last weekend for couple of days with my wife. Ooty town as such has lost its charm compared to my previous outing, but the areas and tourist spots around it are as mesmerising as ever! This hotel though wasn't up to the standards of what a hotel located in a tourist destination must offer. Sun Park was more like a B&B hotel in a holiday destination. I booked my room here through a travel website and I got a good deal for the Classic Suite, which incidentally the top end accommodation they offer. The reviews were good, so I just booked the room. When I reached Ooty, I just put on my GPS and tracked the hotel. The location was correct, but got me wondering. The hotel, I could see at a distance, midway up a hill, but no approach road. The GPS was asking me to push into a 20 feet gravel path called the Church Hill Road. I was a bit worried, for the road itself was bad and could accommodate only one car! I put my belief on the GPS and moved further. Some 50-70 meters ahead, after a cautious right and left turn, the road opened up and I could see the large entrance straight up ahead another 50 meters away. I sigh of relief! Now, coming to the hotel premises.. The area is well paved, neat, has a small lawn and yes a good view down hill. The view doesn't show valleys of greenery, but a combination of Green and Concrete. Its in middle of Ooty town after all. The hotel has been built around an old renovated British style guest house. The main building (which probably was a guest house or a house for some high posted officer) has been divided into two, two bedroom cottages. The building also houses the reception, which is may be nothing but a small servant quarter. The individual rooms are in adjoining two buildings which are new in construction but carry forward the same imperial theme from the mail building, which I feel is the right thing the hotel management has done. You have two room options other than the cottages. The Deluxe Suite and the Classic Suite. Both the rooms are well appointed and have all the basic needs. I personally loved the interiors of the Classic Suite. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were neat and dry! However, one advise. Try to get rooms in the building facing the valley (The front one). The rooms in rear building lack ventilation and almost every time the room is closed for few hours, the air smells mouldy and stale. The hotel doesn't offer any activity or pool to use. Honestly, there isn't any space for it. The food is a complete no-no here. They just have a small kitchen and offer just 3-4 dishes to choose from for all three meals of the day. The taste too doesn't impress. I totally recommend dining out and use this hotel only for stay! And look for some real good bargain either directly with the hotel or through some travel site.
We visited this month on March. It was a holiday trip with family. It was online booking. The city was good. The location of the hotel was good as it was convenient. Outlook of the hotel was very good. The front office and reception was very good and the staff's there were very co-operative. There were no delays in check in checkout. The rooms provided to us were good but was bit smelly. The food and drink was very good and there were complimentary food provided. The service provided by the hotel was very good. The overall experience at the hotel was good.
On a holiday trip I traveled to Ooty with my family in the month of April 2017. I reserved my stay at this hotel through online in Make My Trip website. The hotel location was very good with the clean surroundings. It was convenient to locate it. It was easily accessible to local shops transportation and restaurants. The appearance was very good with the interior and exterior looks. It was overall attractive. There was a lawn in front of the hotel. The front office was good in providing the services. They were on time in completing the booking formalities. They were cooperative and responded to us very well. Rooms were very good with the maintenance. The painting colors were attractive. The beds were soft. The ambience was good. Hot water facilities were 24x7 hours. All the amenities were good. The room service was good and they were on time. Foods were delicious. It was very good to taste and it was hygienic. They need to increase the number of dishes. Then it would be better. We took breakfast and some non-veg food items. Non-veg food items were the best foods. It was well cooked. At that place there were no fun activities. The overall service was very good and I am satisfied with the stay at this hotel. Our stay was very comfortable. There was a good view in the early morning with a good cup of tea in front of lawn with the greenery. I was very relaxed. I indicate the hotel management to improve the front office and to add more dishes in the food menu. I will definitely have a stay again if ever I visit Ooty again. I will suggest this boarding house to other travelers too.
