Gates open

I was lucky to see Supa dam with all it 3 gates open. They said that it will be closed that night. At night they lit up the flowing water with colour lights. I could not make it that night . On one side the dam is seen nearby - but they don't allow visitors through that gate - it is only for security personnel . So we went on the other side - the dam is not seen - but we can go near the dam walking up to 1 km or so. The forest on one side and water flow on the other side made it a refreshing walk. The same after seeing the dam looked tedious - it was sunny and humid. I could request a dam authority jeep to drop me near the parking lot. On the side visitors have thrown plastic bottles, chips covers, etc . There is a power plant nearby. On the other side a mosque is there. Young boys were leaving the mosque after prayers . . You have to carry water and snacks. Nothing is available there.

Nature stop

Supa Dam located on the way to Ganeshgudi. It has excellent nature surrounded by variety of trees and flowers. Dam is situated on Kali River in the state of Karnataka. Because of good forest it is a natural habitat for wildlife.

No entry for general public

Got a chance to visit the dam, due to work relations. Huge and nice view from there. No entry allowed for general public, unfortunately. If you get a chance to see, don't miss.

Superb place filled with beauty of nature

It was an amazing to have river rafting in Dandeli. Made my day still remember 16th June was memorable. It gave me awesome experience on all water sports. Beauty of nature is seen in this place. Fresh breathing air. Trekking in jungle. Jungle stay was soooo awesome.

Awesome place

Awesome is the only word and you can't go inside due to Power generation, but it's amazing. Watch it during sunrise, there is a bridge ahead where the water flows, we could see different breed of Monkeys.

Permission is needed to enter in

No, they don't allow you inside dam unless you have proper permissions, but we did not know where to get permissions. The look of dam while on road or in front is nice. the most important activity in Dandeli is rafting and its possible only when dam let enough water to river by opening gates.

Out of bounds

You are not allowed near the main dam entrance as its strictly patrolled by the armed forces so more or less making it inaccessible to the general public. On the way to the dam, is a bridge over Kali river from where you can have a view of the dam and see the water gushing out if the gates are open.
