Sydney Point Overview

Ranked 4 of 36 sightseeing in Panchgani

Sydney Point is renowned for offering beautiful views of the Krishna Valley, Kamalgad Fort, Dhom Dam, and the city of Wai. This tiny hillock overlooking the lush green Krishna Valley was named after Sir Sidney Beckwarth, who was Commander in Chief and senior member of the council.

Sir Sidney Beckwarth temporarily succeeded Sir John Malcolm as the Governor of Bombay in 1830. The hillock also offers beautiful views of the hill ranges of Pandavgad and Mandhardeo.

Nice views

The view point is at a height and gives good views of Panchgani table land & river down below. Beware of the palmists and the face readers who seem to have a list of boons to suggest. We visited in the afternoon and it wasn't that crowded. May be morning views will be better from photographic standpoint.

Great view

Makes for some great views and clicks. Offers very nice views of the city and the lake. Would rate it higher than the Parsi point. Close to the ravine hotel.

Serene Point with good valley views

Sydney Point is bit high up and is beautifully landscaped with plenty of trees and flowers, making it a very pretty point. You have to climb up a few steps to reach there, due to its height, but that's ok, because there are not too many of them to get you exhausted. There is ample parking available, so there's no issue on that front. There are local Kulfi/Ice Cream sellers in the Parking area who will willingly provide you with information and also click a few pictures for you, if you buy a Kulfi or Ice Cream from them. A lovely place to visit, relax for a while and click photos too, with great views of the valley below. A must visit place, if you have not been there before.

Can stay till sunset

Good walk from Hotel Ravine now being developed with some pedestrian walkways. Stay late till the sun goes off and thankfully hardly any vendors, do carry your water.

A decent sightseeing point

There are too many points to visit at that one point, and you tend to get saturated. This was just another one of them. Maybe I visited all of it in a day, that's why it didn't seem so attractive!

Go with your darling !

Nice and calm place. Must visit during sunset and sunrise (if you can wake up early). This is the place for photographers; one can have the pre-wedding shoot conducted at this place. You will have to carry food and other stuff along as there are no shops here. A good place for couples and photographers.

Heavenly View.

The place had a great view of the sunset. The place had all combinations in the evening, the great view of the sunset along with the valley with river flowing and the hills on its side. The cool breeze was blowing in the evening which made it more relaxing!!!
