Overall good and was satisfied stay

Posted 10 Feb, 2017

I went to Chikmagalur in the month of January 2017 and made my stay in the The coffee Bean. It was my holiday trip with family. The destination Chikmagalur was average. The hotel location was good with necessary availables at the nearest. The appearance of the hotel was good because it is clean and neat. I would rate the front desk staff as average. I booked my room direct at hotel. The house keeping services in the hotel were very good but need to extend the availability. The rooms at the hotel were average. I would rate food as good because of taste and price is not high.

Excellent homestay with delicious food

Posted 5 Mar, 2016

I rate our stay at Coffeebean Homestay at Chikmagalur was excellent. Situated in a vast (300 acres) coffee estate with greenery all around, this beautiful Home Stay is owned and managed by a 6th generation Coffee Estate Owner, Mr. A. A. Nischit, a friendly youngster and his young wife Ruchika. The furniture and the various artifacts in the common area and the cottages are very artistic and beautiful. The place is a nature lover's dream come true. One can just forget the world and relax amidst the trees and plants of the vast estate. Nischit was very helpful in patiently answering all of our queries about growing and blending of coffee. He even showed us a video recording of the process of coffee tasting and blending. The previous evening he had screened a audio visual presentation of the enchanting Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary. It was a wonderful watch. The breakfast, lunch and dinner were simple, yet with delicious dishes prepared by their cook Ms. Meena. The service by the young team of staff headed by Manager Mr. Mahesh was very efficient and courteous. The evenings were very relaxing as all the guests were sitting around a bonfire, savoring freshly fried snacks. Ruchika even offered us to taste Betel leaf and Grape wines prepared by her. Overall, we enjoyed one of the best Home Stay. Would love to stay here for many more days in future and would recommend this Homestay for any one wishing to take a break from their busy city life and relax amidst nature. Room Tip: All the cottages are great. Wi-Fi is available in the common area only.

Excellent homestay at peaceful place

Posted 28 Jan, 2016

This homestay is located in the interior art of mallandur(about 22kms from chikmagalur). Covered with greenery all around, this place is just too peaceful. The cottages are very well maintained and very comfortable. The tariffs are also quite reasonable for the comfort that we get. The food is also included in the tariff and is delicious and homely. The owner as well as the staff are courteous and serviceman. If you plan to enjoy a holiday with the nature, I am sure this homestay is the right place. You also get to see the coffee cycle and enjoy the aromatic coffee anytime throughout the day. The chirping of birds will wake you up to a lovely day.

Where Time Stands Still !!

Posted 13 Oct, 2015

Been here in July 2014. We were planning a family vacation for a long time with my in-laws. The first place that came to our mind was Goa, but somehow that did not work out due to some constraints. We started searching for places within Karnataka and which can be driven down to without any external dependencies. After a lot of research, we zeroed in on to Chikmagalur. It was the rainy season and I have a few colleagues from the place who suggested that this is a wonderful time to visit. We had to decide the accommodation which wasn't easy, it took a lot of research to go for a home stay. Some of my colleagues suggested me against home stays saying they were expensive but we wanted a different kind of an experience and finally decided on a home stay. We scoured through this site for good home stays in the place and after calling up a few of them, we chose Coffee-bean. The home stay is around 20 kms from Chikmagalur and it's a very scenic drive to the place through winding roads in the midst of green coffee plantations and silver oak trees. Situated in the midst of coffee and pepper plantations, the place is a wonderful getaway from the maddening city life. The reception at the home stay was very warm and Nischit (the owner) was very accommodating and helped us in settling down. We stayed in the Pebbles Cottage which can accommodate up-to 7 people. It was a fantastic experience. Heard even the Rocks cottage is equally good. Choose the cottages for a good view of the nature and be surrounded by greenery. We were 5 of us and we enjoyed the stay in the cottage especially in the tents on the first floor. The tents were warmer than the room below. The room was clean, bathrooms even cleaner, 24 hours hot water and overall the comfort level was really good. The food was good. Nischit's parents were even nice and very sweet. Never did we get a chance for any complaints with the place. Throughout the stay, it was raining moderately in the place but that did not let us hamper our stay or our plans. The Jeep drive to the Sunset point arranged by Nischit was pure nature at it's best. We would definitely come back to Coffee bean the next time. The nature surrounding the cottages brings peace to your mind and where you get lost in time and where time itself, stands still.

Overall it was good experience

Posted 20 May, 2015

My stay at Coffee Bean Hotel was a good stay. It was conveniently located and I had no problem to reach the place since the hotel management had arranged transport facilities too. The staff and their services were good and helpful. The appearance of the hotel was Royal in look, it was almost like a home stay and I had a wonderful experience. The food in this hotel was not that good at taste and was of less variety. The room was maintained and basic amenities at working condition were available. No activities were organized in this hotel nor were sightseeing trip arranged. Overall, it was a good experience.

Well maintained homestay for families

Posted 5 Sep, 2014

This Homestay is part of a single farmland large property with acres of green forest. The cottages are done up very nicely but in a sparse, simple but aesthetic manner. There a 3 cottages that are built away from the main heritage house built by the current Homestay owner's ancestors. The lobby, the dining area, and the courtyard used for relaxation are all part of the main house. The cottages are reasonably well appointed with big rooms, spacious beds, and attached bathrooms. Each cottage also has a nice balcony that one can relax in. The Homestay serves traditional North Karnataka cuisine - which I would rate, a 7 on 10 for flavour. The rice-heaviness of the cuisine might have you wishing for other kinds of food if you stay there for more than 2 days, but it is manageable. Hospitality is reasonably okay, but I was a bit miffed when I did not get a proper bill/invoice for my payment. It was a piece of paper on which the amount was scribbled. That left a bit of a bad after taste, but would recommend the place for families and even groups/couples.
