A Panoramic Experience

4.5/5
Posted 21 Jul, 2017

This property is located at Chithirapuram which is about 10-12kms from the Munnar Bus Stand On arrival we were greeted and had our luggage's directly to the room Check-in was smooth and efficient On entering the rooms we were surprised by the view which was going to be our plain view of sight for the next 2 days The rooms were designed to a posh level and was spacious with a balcony and sit-out overlooking the front view The bed and linens were well fluffy and perfect to the climate Then we took a little tour of the property itself Off which they have an All day dining restaurant, a coffee shop and a Grill stop (UNDERGROUND) and yea if you have a huge respect for the monks, especially the OLD ONE I suggest you carry your own supplies cause this property does not tend to your alcoholic needs and also if you ask for a mixer(soft drinks) at the all day dining they serve it in plastic containers all the way to your room reducing the gas and making it like a regular sugar water and if you visit their joint they give you mixers in cans upon ordering and while I questioned them to why not as room service they said its hotel management policies regarding to the GST which is so lame cause the all day dining and the joint are within the same property with 2 different hotel policies Secondly the dining experience is of 2 ways The breakfast spread was windblown a lot of middle eastern cuisines Loved the hummus, shakshouka and the falafel I can say after ages I had one of the best hummus and falafel down south with other regional favorites from Dosa's to puttu to chola bhaturas everything was so perfectly done nothing less. Met the complete expectation On the second note for lunch ordered some north Indian favorites and we specifically asked the guy to make sure it was spicy and he suggested a paneer delicacy for main-course and veg manchurian for starters and at the table it was visually craving to its preparation to the presentation only to be deceived by its flavor as it lacked in every way hoping that was all we had to deal with our lunch we had also reordered Rajma Dale with Charla for the finishing note which was again a complete disaster on understanding the dining experience we didn't take a chance for their desert and left Now for the dinner we ordered some mixed vegetable and some local chicken dish and made it specific to the person who attended us for our lunch that we want it spicy and me hailing from north Kerala and an avid foodie I prefer my dishes to be spicy all to which was well explained and acknowledged. After the whole explanation we hopefully expected a better response only to know the wrath unleashed upon our taste buds. The whole thing arrived it was hot and presented well but me being a god fearing person who respects food and all of the above. One mouth of the veg curry sided with a Roti and the next thing was spit it back on the plate 2nd mouth of the chicken gravy and the Roti ran straight to the washroom to dump the intake and flush it for good and had to roll some toothpaste and cold water into our mouths to sublime the fiery chilly powders infused in our gravies. After attending to our mouth and the horrors faced we were tired and not in a state to call back or ask for a fresh order Only to wake up the next morning and be surprised by the sumptuous delicious breakfast spread and we had a small chat with our guy and explained the horror faced the previous night and he reverted sir, you said spicy so I got it spicy When a guest asks spicy it doesn't mean you just pour in green chilli pastes and bunch of red chilli powder it has to be perfectly blend not just by the presentation and texture and completely ruling out the taste The second day we ordered lunch and the order was a paneer Tikka (Cottage cheese) for starters bhindi masala (ladies finger) for the main course and for the final note some chawal(rice) and Dale fry (lentil) and phulka The Panner Tikka was fresh and soft and perfectly done The bhindi masala in which the bhindi was nicely done the base gravy was tomato and the texture was brought out well While my servers were incredibly kind and accommodating, it doesn't change the fact that the food lacked flavor when it came out and this time I spoke to him on a serious note upon which he said he would have the head chef at my table only to which there was no response from him or the so called head chef and he didn't bother to attend to us A total wastage of INR 6500 spent for such a terrible dining experience But yes only the lunch and dinner was havoc The breakfast turned out to be the best for some reason god knows what Now let me set aside the dining experience and come to the amenities They have 2 beautiful pools of one at the rooftop and one at the lobby and the best part is they are temperature controlled The rooftop pool is small but gives you an infinity pool experience overlooking the hills and the mist passing by through you The lobby pool is big with an inbuilt Jacuzzi We had a great time by both the pools with the pleasant chilled climate and the rain And the evening was fun filled with the bonfire lit with some pleasant tunes of our own to accompany As being said this is a 5-Star property and of all the 5 stars i've stayed till date and unlike most 5-star properties a steam shower is a complimentary amenity provided to the guests but they were charging INR 3000 for 2ppl for which we had to turn down They also have an activity room at the 4th floor including caroms, chess and foosball table Overall accommodation experience at this property was just magnificent, the property location is marvelous and the front office staff were pleasant. Definitely, will recommend The Complimentary Breakfast spread is something delightful. The a-la-carte dining experience was just unappealing at a cost not justified.

OK hotel in a not so great location

2.7/5
Posted 8 Mar, 2016

The hotel is comfortable and clean, NOT luxurious. It is peacefully silent, probably because it is far from town. The sunset view from the rooftop pool is good. You don't catch the sunrise at this property. The internet is very fast. The outdoor breakfast area overlooking a cliff is beautiful. The local dishes in the breakfast buffet are excellent. But room service food was definitely poor. I had ordered (different) standard north Indian dishes each time and they have NO idea about how they are prepared. There is no liquor of any sorts so if you want to enjoy a drink, take your own drink with you. It is a property built onto a standard, narrow road, and the entire property has been used for the construction of the building. So there is no place to walk around, no landscaped area around it, and it is definitely not near any of the famed tea plantations. When you look around, all you see is shabby outdoors. So don't go there expecting a mesmerising atmosphere to stay. There was a local temple which blared out very loud devotional music at 5 am (slightly earlier) waking me up even though the windows were closed. The property is few km before Munnar from the Kerala side (Chithirapuram), at a location which has lower altitude and approximately 5 degrees higher temperature than Munnar, place is fairly warm in February. It is an OK place to serve as a bed and breakfast base camp to explore Munnar but even then there is no ambiance to spend a good night there. There are ZERO activities and the restaurant closes for the night. No food is available after 10:30 pm.

Beautiful hotel with gorgeous views

4/5
Posted 8 Jun, 2015

Beautiful property located in the heart of the picturesque hills of Munnar. Stayed there with family including three kids and was very comfortable throughout our stay. This hotel is less than six months old, so from the automated controls for lighting to the contemporary furniture in the room, everything has a shiny new and modern feel to it. The overall decor of the hotel is also extremely fresh, bright and open, giving a sense of space and light throughout the property. All rooms offer a beautiful and panoramic view of the hills Our favourite areas of course were the pool side and the lovely lounging area adjacent to the pool. The infinity style terrace pool was temperature controlled which was a huge plus point for us as we didn't mind the kids splashing around in it for as long as they liked. The restaurant has a good a la chart menu and the items we tried were all very good in taste and flavour. One downside was that for dinner the only option was the restaurant buffet spread which did not appeal to us. As the restaurant was not offering a la chart service, we were forced to order room service and eat in the room. This was the only disappointing experience of our stay. Would be great if the restaurant could consider a la chart service for dinner as well The hotel arranged a nice half day tour for us in their private vehicle and the owner was very helpful in suggesting the best places for us to visit. The staff are all extremely courteous and helpful. Overall we had a very pleasant stay at Panoramic Getaway and have already recommended this hotel to our family and friends.

Good hotel to stay

4.1/5
Posted 12 Jun, 2017

I went to Munnar during the month of January 2017 and booked the rooms in the The Panoramic Getaway. It was my holiday trip with family. The destination Munnar was good to enjoy with family. The hotel location was very good as it is nearest to the market place. I would rate the appearance of the hotel as average. Hotel front office was very good as they will respond quickly with appropriate information. I booked my room direct at hotel. The house keeping services in the hotel were very good but need to extend the availability. The rooms at the hotel were average. The hotel food was very good because price is very comfortable with more varieties.
