Good to enjoy the view of waterfalls and mountains from viewpoint

These are twin waterfalls that one can see from a designated viewpoint. One cannot get down very close to the waterfalls nor take Bath. But the relaxing view from the viewpoint is definitely worth a trip to this place. There is also a small waterfall that one can see from behind the fence. One has to walk a bit from the parking place and climb up/down few stairs to reach the viewpoint. Recommend visiting during Monsoon or just after the rains to see the waterfalls in full flow.

An awesome waterfall

Thoseghar waterfall is around 40km from Satara district and has a height of about 330 meters. There is an entry fees of 10 rupees per person. There are few viewpoints from where you can see the waterfall. Going down to the falls is not allowed.Best time to visit would be after the monsoons when the waterfall is full with water and the climate is soothing. The water falls from a good height to a pool and creates an enormous roaring sound. Mist flies above the pool of the water which is so mesmerising that you would want to go to the pool. There are two falls, big and the small one. Big waterfall is the major attraction. The small one is just like a brook.

Superb waterfall view

The sounds of water gushing down a rapid, colorful butterflies flying here and there, lovely nature trail leading to the waterfall and valley, a gorgeous eagle in plain sight if you're lucky - all these sum up to make the lovely experience at Thoseghar. The valley is dotted with a major fall which is breathtaking, and two or three more secondary falls - equally beautiful. The viewpoints is one of the best, and it's a good place for the nature lovers. There is arduous trekking leading up to the base of the falls, which happens by the private adventure groups but you've to get in touch with them for more info. While going up to there the road's dotted with small and big temples, some of which are more than 100 years old. There is not much to eat there - but the town's not far away - so you can have nice food over at the town.

A nice day trip

Thoseghar is a group of falls near to Satara. A day trip from Pune or Satara is possible. Road conditions is very good. There are three falls in different directions. Well laid ways and steps are there to see these 3 falls. Many people park their vehicle far from falls, don't park your vehicle there, cross the falls entrance and go front, you can find the free parking space for your vehicle and it reduces the walking distance also.

A beautiful set of waterfalls

A must visit place to feast your eyes on nature's beauty, High series of waterfalls some of them of 15 to 20 meters and one about 500 meters high. Be careful as this place has casualties as well due to drowning in water flow.

One of the better ones that Maharashtra has

I love water bodies, beaches or waterfalls, so immediately after the monsoons, I make it a point to visit as many as possible for most of these are seasonal and have to be experienced in their full glory at the right time.Satara has the famed Kaas Plateau of flowers and the Thoseghar waterfalls. Avoid going here on weekends as the crowd can be maddening. Thoseghar is a pleasant 25-30 minutes drive from Satara city, and you will mostly see enthusiastic bikers on this road. The lush green scenery is wonderful to see as you drive past the edge of the mountain enroute. A short climb later, you will come across the exit to Sajjangad fort. Drive on and you will see a board for Thoseghar falls on the main road. It's a very haggard board for falls as lovely as Thoseghar.Once you come to the main entrance of the Falls, it's a short walk downhill (well laid out steps) from where you can see the falls standing over a viewing platform. There are 2 falls - the big and the small. And lots of monkeys around. Don't carry any food articles lest the monkeys boldly snatch it away from you. The falls plunge into a chasm and the pool and rocky terrain below is just too good. Loads of photography to be done here the falls, the butterflies, the primates, and of course the huge windmills at Chalkewadi a short distance ahead of Thoseghar. Make sure you head there this monsoon.

Excellent place

Excellent sightseeing place. Not too much of people in off season hence for safety it's better to go in groups. Nice place.

The locally famous dab dhabas.

There are two water falls, gloriously pristine, one small and the other large, which are worth a visit. I counted 174 steps down the valley slope to reach the site-seeing spot to the large waterfall. At 67 I found the trek a bit tiresome; at the end of the visit, I discovered that it was really worth the effort. A lovely spot that Maharashtra should be proud of.
