Great adventure and something hatke

Let me begin this first by making it clear that this is not an easy trek. You might see 100s of reviews stating that is an easy level trek and good for beginners. But believe me, for someone who is a bit low on physical activities, this is not easy. It'll be easily 5 hours and you should start it by 10 or 11 because it gets dark early and you would reach at the top my max 5pm. Regarding the accommodation at the top, beware! You'll be filled by almost every shop selling the trek and camp. One such was snowline trek. We got duped pretty bad. The camps and the sleeping bags were no use at all and there was nothing for us to cover from the cold. Never every pay the whole money upfront. And bring plenty of water bottles (3 per person, at least). Also pack in some juice and chocolates. And it will be tiring, so be prepared for it. Carry small bagpacks.

Splendid beauty of the mighty Himalayas

The Trek to triund is a bit difficult, but view as amazing and totally worth the pain. One can easily find tents to rent out and spend a night under the sky. That place was full of astro photographers. Valley was also very pretty.

Tranquil trek

It is worth travelling as once you'll reach the top and see the great Himalaya from Dhauladhar hill range. All tiredness will fade-away.Lucky if you get snowfall or hailing on the way or up-top but then it gets very cold. And you'll miss the clear sky and stars.Must carry rain-coat (Better to buy from McLeodganj) they are fit for the purpose, woolen (1-2). You will get water and essentials on the way (7-8) shops and at 4 shops on the top. Don't miss the maggie and view from Magic view point as well.

The best way to unwind

We where in Triund on the 10th of April after a year of hectic worklife. We where jus looking for a escape. We decided to trek from McLeod Ganj itself for fun since it's been long we both did something crazy. It took almost one hour to reach the check point where we had to give all the details. The guard was keep on asking if we had drinks with us and we where clean. Though on the way I saw heaps of empty bottle I wonder why he asked us. The route is pretty much easy to follow. The initial few kilometers where really easy But the altitude was taking a little toll on us. We took breaks to capture the surrounding and at times to be in the moment at times. We were really feeling very good, I think we got high just on the fresh oxygen around us. It was really pleasant. We took breaks in the cafes re hydrating us with water gatorade when ever possible. For energy we had oreo and the price was not very high. It took us 4hrs to reach up top with the 7. 5kg rucksacks but once we reached up the top. Oh God. We literally forgot all the tiredness and felt as if we where in heaven it self. We found ourself a two bed tent for around 600rs. Had good masala tea and maggi. And we were refreshed as if we jus woke up from a cozy bed. We started going around watching the place. The view of Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj in the evening is really worth all the effort uphill. By the sunset we had gone around a lot. Then we found ourself a good rock to sit and enjoy the sunset. It was an awesome experience. Once the sun set the temp dropped very fast. For a guy from south it was initially a little very cold. Since we were sitting ducks for a year we were a little tired for the tired after the trek and the travel and everything. SO we decided to curl up on the sleeping bag and had a good night sleep. Woke up early morning to see the sunrise then went up to snowline. Then we headed back and the return also took around 4hrs. It was really worth it. Would like to do it again someday

Must do

If you are travelling to McLeodganj, Trek to triund is a must. The trip would be incomplete without reaching triund. The trek is a mixture of walking on trails and climbing without any specific marked trail. It takes a minimum of 4 hours(without any breaks) to reach the campsite on top which makes guide a necessity if you are travelling with a family. You are not allowed to start climbing the mountains after 5 since it is very risky to climb at night. You need to carry your own tents or book some when you are starting your Trek.It is better to book before leaving since the trek is a long one and carrying tents will only make it more difficult. We went in mid June to triund and started our Trek at 5(after requesting a lot), since the patrol there weren't ready to allow us to start so late.Carrying plenty of water is necessary to stay hydrated. There are 5 check points during the way where small shops sell the essentials(they all shut by 7 30).There is provision for food on top. Nothing fancy but tradition meal as well as maggi is available provided you reach the top before 9 30-10.The view from top is majestic and would recommend getting up early to catch the sunrise. The journey to triund is one of the most thrilling experiences.

Spectacular views - A must do trek

Have been to Triund twice - Once stayed overnight and second time came back same day. Both experiences were truly memorable. Looks completely different in summer and winter. Everything is very basic and expensive on top. But the view of the Dhauladhars totally make up for it.Better to take a guide service, else might get lost. If planning to stay overnight, the guide will make arrangements. Take proper warm clothes as the night gets chilly.

Good place for trekking

Person visiting McLeodganj should make trekking to Triund hill if they have stamina to climb. Really enjoyable and can make night stay in tents on top of Triund. One can go up to checkpoint of Triund by car and then have to get entry for trekking. Children below 12 should be avoided as they are not allowed.
