Triveni Ghat Overview

Ranked 6 of 40 sightseeing in Rishikesh

Triveni Ghat, which is a well known bathing ghat of Rishikesh, is a confluence of three sacred rivers that are Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. Various pilgrims visit this place to take a holy dip in Triveni Ghat, before visiting the famous temples of Rishikesh. According to the beliefs, a dip in water at this ghat washes away all the sins and purifies the soul.

The evening aarti, also known as the 'Maha Aarti', which takes place at this ghat, is the major attraction among the tourists. This aarti is accompanied by chantings of bhajan, beating drums, bells and diyas glowing all over the place. The devotees release small oil lamps placed on leaf boats in the water. These lamps floats down the river and provide a beautiful view. Ceremonies like 'Pindha Shraddha' in the name of ancestors are also done at Triveni Ghat.

The two in one

This Ghat is both suited for the religious minds and the adventure seekers. This Ghat offers you to indulge in a holy dip in the water of the Ganges and also go on a river rafting expedition in the clear water of the Ganges. Make it a point to enjoy the duplex role of the river.

Enjoyed the Sandhya Aarti

The Triveni Ghat we visited during sunset is mainly to attend the Sandhya Aarti or Puja and had a similar experience like that of Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar and really enjoyed the Mantra Chants.

Triveni Ghat visit with family and friends

We visited Triveni Ghat on 23rd October in the morning, the visit was very nice and full paisa-vasool. We did a lot of activities on the site like bathing with friends, roaming on the ghat there was very cold water which makes our visit much attractive. I suggest all the travellers that must do Rafting there, do not waste time here and there. And very important things to carry there HDCAM, Winter clothes, must carry sleepers for seeing sitescreen etc.

A place for doing Ganga holy bath and river rafting also

Triveni Ghat is believed that the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati took place here. It is also a spot for the pilgrims who visit Rishikesh to take a holy dip in its water. This ghat is large and clean, and has separate changing rooms for women. After sunset, the famous Ganga Maha Aarti takes place at around 6 PM.

Best place to go in summer

Its a good place to go on the season of mid summer and winter like in march or April. We just planned to go there to enjoy or holiday. The River ganga is just too good along with rafting and boating experiences there. If you are going with family then it can also be very good.
