Sacred place for Hindus

Triveni Sangam is believed to be a very sacred place (ghat) for Hindus. The holy ghat is located at the point of confluence of three rivers namely HIRAN, KAPILA and SARASWATI meet at this point with the sea. People believe that a dip in the river at this holy ghat makes one's body clean and removes all sins committed by him/her in his/her life. The Gita temple and Lakshminarayan temple are located on the site of the holy ghat. It is considered to be the place where Lord Krishna was cremated. Watched hundreds of white birds at this holy ghat.

A beautiful place one must visit enroute Somanath in Gujarat. A confluent of 3 rivers - Hiran, Kapila and Saraswathi is just picturesque. One can also get to watch 100s of white birds .. One of the locals said they belong to the crow family. Evening or early morning is a great time to visit. One can also get to visit an old shiva temple which the priest indicated that the deity here was first worshipped by Shankaracharya.

My experience at Triveni Sangam Somnath

I had a very goodPictures of Triveni Sangam Somnath. But my experience there good. The bay was dirty and smelling. No proper facilities. It was marshy land, crows every where, littering. I couldn't dare to go boating at Triveni Sangam. We had to leave the place in few minutes.

Good place to visit

Good sightseeing place as well as religious place. The approach road and surrounding area requires maintenance. Opt the package of private auto service or taxi to visit the place.

Not very clean

This is a place to see when you have visited Somnath. During evening time come here, as you can see a nice view of sunset. Not very clean. Always there is crowd here, so photography is not very easy. Cows are roaming as this is a religious place, but why plastic items are flying everywhere.

Where Three Rivers Meet

This is a place where three rivers meet, namely Kapil, Hiran and Saraswati. You will find lots of Ducks, Dogs, Pigs and Fishes. Here people enjoy feeding all of them. The place has got its own significance and it is photogenic as well. There are small shops along side where they sell shell based items, one can that if found interesting.

Kids would Love it

Its one place which will bring smiles on your kids face. Although looking a little deserted from the entrance, one can find hundreds of pigeons on entering the place. One can even buy pigeon food for INR 20 (which is too costly looking at the small plastic bowl the lady offers!). The motor boat standing there moves only when there are 18 - 20 people to fill it. The ticket is INR 20 per person. Otherwise the rates can go as high as INR 3000/-; if you wish an individual motorboat ride. The boat takes a full round ride taking you to Triveni Sangam point where 3 rivers - Kapil, Hiran and Saraswati meet. It's a good tour and kids simply love it!
