I have just returned from a short stay at the Udechee Huts. And I am already rummaging my diary for more holiday dates so that I can go back. I was travelling with my parents (both in their early 60s with varying degrees of joint pains), which made me skeptical about everything - the car, flight timings and most importantly the accommodation. Despite the wonderful reviews on the TripAdvisor and thumbs up from some friends - I was biting my fingernails till we pull up in their porch on our first day. All those emails to which Mr. Abhai calmly responded - did not help ease my panic. The staff gave us the best welcome that we have received in a long time - Mr. Ashwini and his team at the reception were warm, hospitable and did everything to get us settled into our room. During our stay, too - the team at Udechee took special care of my dietary restrictions and their comfort during the stay. We also had a hiccup with my mother's health - but the team was prompt to help in every possible way. Our room was of the basic category - modest yet cosy, clean loos, clean sheets and big windows overlooking the mountains. It's a modest accommodation, yes - but very comfortable and adequate for a traveler. When I go there again (which I am quite determined to), I would prefer the rooms over the reception - only for a better view. It was not until morning that we realized that the great staff and cosy rooms were only the second best thing about Udechee Huts. What could be more fabulous than waking up to the magnificent Dhauladhar peeking into your window. The unobstructed view (no other hotels in Naddi area can boast of such splendid views) of the imposing Dhauladhar makes one go weak in the knees - and sit quietly in its presence. And the hotel maintains a strict policy to ensure you get your calm and silence - as you enjoy your morning tea with the Himalayas. We did not encounter loud neighbours, shrieking children, loud parties or music in the lobby/sun-room, which is a blessing (especially during the holidays). The food is simple and wholesome. You can start with an off-the-tava Paratha or eggs for breakfast and get a simple Indian fare for your meals (made to taste too). The staff serves the food with a lot of warmth and a smile. I will tell you what Udechee is not - it's not a Taj Vivanta with shiny marble floorings, bathtubs and Forest Essentials toiletries. Udechee is picturesque, comfortable, serene and quaint. If you're looking for breathtaking views, great hospitality and smiling faces - head there.
Hotel is in fact in Naadi, little abroad from McLeodganj. It's got cottages, library, dinning breadth and a terrace that faces the abundance Aiguille you feel you can reach. Rooms are actual basal but clean. Staff is affable and helpful. Alignment is basal too. It's appropriate in front of a few peaks. One can just accumulate admiring that beauty. Awesome. Need a cab to ability McLeodganj bazaar or any added abode for that matter. The banquet was like overcooked alignment and all four of us admired it. The breakfast wasn't that acceptable and it needs a lot of advance as it is the a lot of important meal of the day. They can add fruits, cereals, Idli/Dosa to the menu. Just toast, Parathas, milk, tea is not enough. We went to added restaurants for breakfast for next three days If they yield affliction of few baby things, again it can about-face out to be a actual acceptable abode and can accord austere antagonism to branded hotels that accept appear up in the vicinity.
I have just completed my Michael tour to Dalhousie, Chamba, Khajjiar and finally Dharamshala . . I booked Udechee Huts through online portal at an amazing price. I was there for two days. Looking to the name I was expecting that there are only huts but we were allotted a room. Valley View from the rooms is good. The only drawback from the property is that it is about 4 to 5 km away from McLoedganj. Since it is already mentioned in the front Page of the hotel hence we were prepared for the same. As far as food quality is concerned there is very limited choice. Further quality of food is not up to satisfactory level. Approach road to hotel is also not good. I would suggest to travellers that if someone is planning to stay in Dharamshala for 3 to 4 days then they should stay in this hotel for 1 or two days and then should prefer to stay near to main McLoedganj area. Overall, my experience with this hotel was average.
It wasn't really a hotel as you would expect. As the name says, its basically just huts. It was really cool to live in the huts. The city people should never miss this. The services provided were good. The bathrooms were clean too. Overall, a pleasant experience.
We stayed on the first floor rooms overlooking the valley. From the room one can see the breathtaking panoramic view of the Dhauladhar ranges almost falling over you. Superb location. But I must confess that the food available was basic and quite expensive, and its always advisable to have your meals out.
