Was @ the Vasundhara Sarovar in April 2013 on a short getaway from Kochi . . This hotel, a part of the Sarovar group is situated in Vayalar, near Kumarakom, about 100 km from Kochi and is less than a year old. It boasts of an award winning ayurvedic spa, that quite lives up to its brief reputation. The rooms are Split over 3 floors, with each floor having a unique earthy theme. Rooms are reasonably sized, with a balcony overlooking the pool/the central court-yard. The bathrooms are well designed to complete the earthy touch. The hotel also boasts of cottages, each overlooking the famed back-waters. The restaurant at the hotel boasts of a variety of dishes, some of which are prepared in the traditional style to give you the feel of local cuisine. You have the option to go a la chart or to dig into the sumptuous buffet. Our room tariff included a complementary breakfast. The staff are courteous and ever-helpful, who firmly believe in the age old adage of "service with a smile". Coming back to the spa, the choice of massages range from the traditional ayurvedic to the exotic thai. We went in for ayurveda. An hour and a half of oil and herbal massage summed up with a steam and shower Bath later, I came out feeling rejuvenated. The air, filled with the mystical aroma of herbs and oil, we summed up our evening sitting on an arm-chair, sipping herbal tea, watching a beautiful sunset and feeling pleased about our newly acquired vigor. We plan to make this an annual affair from now on. There also is an in-house doc who could also help suggest an appropriate massage, if there's that little niggle you would want taken care of. The resort also boasts of a temple manned by a local pujari, to complete the feel of a traditional Kerala village. If there is one thing that's a put-off at the resort, its the cost of a 3 hr ride on the house-boat. At 10 K (food inclusive) I am not too sure it is worth its while, when a short drive to Allepey can get you a better deal at half that price. A walloped gym and a pool sum up the brief on this wonderful little locale.
Was over with family for a night's stay on December 29, 2014. The check-in process was seamless and a tour around the facility allowed us to understand and appreciate the thought and careful design behind the facility. Lot of traditional material found abundantly in Kerala is used. The imported fans were unique, rest-rooms having a theme was also a stand out. The Spa was very nice and its location was carefully chosen and has a breathtaking view from the balcony. Amenities include a well maintained swimming pool which is used by guests extensively, the pool side bar and adequate availability of pool chairs make it a favourite hang out. The chayakada is manned by a local tea shop vendor, the energy of the staff made the whole experience worth it. Subash who was working there on this day was making an earnest attempt to connect with customers and was happy to provide the best service he could. Shaji who operated the boat for the evening cruise was also engaging with customers and making them feel welcome. Our kids also did a little bit of fishing and rode the cycles available at the facility. The pedal boats were a good work out for the legs as well :) A well appointed Gym is one thing that lot of recreational tourists would miss on, did have a feel of the Gym and could see that it was clean and had good equipment. Food is a big part of one's stay and the restaurant had staff who would do whatever they could to make your experience the best. We asked for few things which were all provided - be it the green tea, the raita or Indian bread that kids wanted, all of these were made available. Food was a mix of traditional Kerala dishes and North Indian fare, with some Oriental and Continental dishes thrown in. We had to get some medical help for my daughter who ran high temps. In about 10K, there is K V M Hospital on the Highway at Cherthala which we could access to get required medicines. The front desk folks offered to take in the hotel's car and was helpful in guiding me over. Approach from the highway is through village roads which are in good condition. The resort has a facility to use a drop box for gratuity which I thought was a good concept since it allows them to reward staff who are not customer facing (like kitchen staff, as an example) who also make a big difference to the overall experience. We were impressed with the facility and have already started recommending this place to our friends and relatives.
Excellent hotel in whole journey, it is a best hotel. Location of this hotel is excellent. And outer side appearance is very excellent. Room is fantastic, but in room TV cables were Hindi channels are very low. Room service is very good, but foods are average; front desk is good.
I went there with my family in the month of September 2014. Hotel was not located near transport. There was river near to the hotel, where you were boating in the river. Services were not delayed. Appearance was good. It was a good place to stay with family. Restaurant manager was very cooperative there. Food was available and it was good. They had many varieties of food in the hotel. South Indian food was there. Quality wise, food was good. Food price was reasonable. I had no problem with booking service there. Rooms were spacious and clean. You can see nice view from balcony. TV, geyser, AC, everything were available in the room and functioning properly. Hot and cold water was also there. Room service was very good. They organized sightseeing trip for us but we did not use this service. Hotel was little bit expensive but value for money paid. I will recommend this hotel to other travellers. Staff behaviour was excellent. Alleppey is a nice place as tourism.
Everything is amazing. Just awesome. Everything is super. Fantastic, hospitality is perfect. Perfect welcome, amazing amenities, super view. Room was first class, lake is gorgeous. Boating sightseeing is wonderful. Staff is so kind.
