Veer Narayana Temple Overview

The Veer Narayana Temple is believed to have been constructed by Hoysala king Bittideva, in 1117. Following the advice of his guru, Sri Ramanujacharya, the king built this temple. It is one of the Pancha Narayana temples.

The structure of the temple is a combination of Chalukya, Hoysala and Vijayanagara architectural styles. The main entrance is constructed in the Vijayanagara style of architecture.

The garbha griha and the tower represent Chalukya architecture, while the garuda gamba and rangamantapa are constructed in the Hoysala architectural style. The gopuram and the interiors of the temple have stone carved images of various gods and goddesses.

    Very huge place

    This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Here photography is not allowed. The temple area is very huge. There are even small temples of Narasimha and Raghavendra Swamy Temple. It is also one of the major tourist attractions in Gadag.
