Superb British architecture

The Rashtrapati nivas it's new name, it is a royal palace which is now used by the indian advance studies for the research programs. This building is a t a great vantage point from the entire view of Shimla can be seen. It's in the campus of iias. Beautiful well maintained gardens is surrounded and campus is huge. Go by walk if possible to enjoy the trek as there are a lot of monkeys on the pathway. Entry fees is 40 rs which includes a guide who shows us the inner architecture and pictures of past indian leaders.Building is bit degrading but the authorities are performing the repairing tasks. The inner Woodwork and furniture, paintings, ceilings are all from the british age as this building was the viceroys lodge during that period. Photography inside is prohibited

Beautiful site to get a picture taken with a lodge at the background

Viceregal Lodge is a beautiful imposing building. Only three rooms at the ground floor are open to general public under a guided tour. It has its wall covered in teak from Burma and has an in house fire exigency plan which is quite impressive. It's a beautiful site to get a picture taken with a lodge at the background.

Witness the heritage

Witness how the British Viceroys ruled from this heritage site in Shimla in the then pre-independence India. Viceregal lodge is a testimony to their sheer royalty. Now re-christened to Rashtrapati Niwas, center for studies in humanities and other adjacent areas for scholars. The center had witnessed discussions and decisions which shaped the future of India. The architecture and other artifacts will reveal so many interesting facts about pre-independence India and statesmen. Must visit.
