Tower of Victory

This great monument was built by Mewar king Rana Kumbha after his victory of Mahmud Khilji and is dedicated to Lord VIshnu. A prime spot of the Chittor Fort & worth a visit.

Symbolic of ancient Indian architectural style

Vijay Stambh a nine storeyed tower also known as Victory Tower was built by Maharana Kumbha between 1458 and 1468, to commemorate his victory over Sultan Mahmud of Malwa. This tower is built on a 10 feet raised platform and this monument is symbolic of ancient Indian Architectural Style and it is 6 metres wide having 157 steps to the top storey. The view from the top of this extraordinary 36-Metres high sandstone structure, richly carved outside and inside with Puranic depictions of God and Goddess like Ardh Narishwar, Uma Maheshwar, Laxmi Narayan, Brahma, Savitri, Harihar Pitamah and Vishnu's various incarnations are engraved and also scenes and person from Ramayana and Mahabharata details are in-scripted. Besides all, Matrika Statue, Seasons, rivers, and lifestyle of the people, as whole variety of sculpture artwork is so magnificent that one will remain spellbound.Young must go through the staircase to have the magnificent view as it needs energy and revolving steps may be troublesome for those having any knee pain etc. Always have a camera and if possible a binocular to enjoy the complete fort view and city view too.

Nice to climb inside

It has 9 floors inside and we can go upto 8th floor by steps. They are bit tricky, but fine if you have a torch (otherwise mobile flash light is most handy tool). It offers nice view of the fort which is very fascinating and photogenic. I will say it's worth to climb up the stairs.

Vijay Stambh is carved sculpture

The work on stones is very unique. The architecture of the Vijay stambh surprises. Though the stairs are congested and one person at a time can go or come but view of fort and around places is very touching from last floor of Vijay stambh.

Mind blowing!

It is a nine storey tower and offers some amazing panoramic views of the Chittorgarh Fort and the areas surrounding it. The stairs are a bit slippery and congested, tread carefully.
