Our overall stay in Villa Everest was good. The hotel is not very big - around 10 rooms - which makes it quiet & peaceful and, allows good attention to all guests. The building seems to be an old bungalow (probably British-era) converted into a hotel, giving the whole place a very colonial and grandiose feel. The location is good - about 10 minutes walk (flat-ish, not very uphill or downhill) from the mall and main market in Darjeeling. They are owned by Glenary's, the popular bakery & restaurant in main market, and that entitles you to a 10% discount there. Our room was nice - spacious, clean and cozy. It had wooden walls and a carpeted floor, but the decor was contemporary. The beds were cozy, comfortable, clean and made every day. The view from the room was good, although we could not see Kanchenjunga because of cloudy weather. The bathroom & the shower were also quite big and had all the required facilities (running hot water, all toiletries, etc). Everything was kept clean during our entire stay. The WiFi in the room was quite poor - most of the time the signal was very weak and whenever it connected, it used to flicker. We found that it only worked well in early morning. They need to install WiFi repeaters on every floor. The service was very good - the people were a somewhat shy and silent, but they did their jobs quite well. Our room was cleaned every day and was well kept. The food was also quite nice. The breakfast (included) was tasty, especially the hot Aloo Parathas, the hot chocolate and the fried eggs with ham & sausages. The restaurant is small with nice view of the hills. The hotel doesn't serve or allow alcohol and this probably should be mentioned in the hotel description.
Overall it was an excellent stay, I stayed along with my wife in the month of December, Destination was pleasant and hotel was located very near the market area. The appearance of the hotel was elegant and front office staff were very helpful and there was good parking space. We did in May and June. Didn't like Darjeeling much as a destination. Gangtok was much better. Traffic jams were a part of Darjeeling. This is a small family run the hotel. Compact we had read the reviews & booked it. It was good all rooms view facing. Spacious, nicely done. The location was difficult to find though we made the driver talk to the hotel, it took some time to locate. Its about 15 minutes walk at least from the mall, no activities at the hotel. The food was good. Staff were good, no complaints.
There service was excellent, we had took both accommodation and food. They gives us delicious food, all the stuff was excellent. They help us during the whole trip, we were there for 4 days with my family. I would recommended others to visit the same hotel.
Villa Everest is a small boutique hotel located at a 15-20 minute walk from the Chowrasta Mall Built during the British Raj, it is the kind of house you would love to be invited to. An ideal mix between the old-world charm which you don't find any more and the modernness without which you find it difficult to function Our room (no 9), with a good view of Mt. Kanchenjunga, was reasonably clean, although not spotless; but it was spruced up to our requirements within half an hour of our arrival. The bed linens, towels and the bathroom with its modern fittings were all clean One of the two great strengths of this hotel is its owner, Mrs. Nita Edwards, an exceedingly warm and gracious lady and the other, the hospitality of her staff. She understood right away that we wanted our room and bathroom to be spotlessly clean and left adequate instructions with her staff who complied with a smile We loved the breakfast too. In fact, we thought their sausages and bacon were way better that the ones we had eaten at Keventers. Their chicken roast and spaghetti bolognese with bacon cooked in a homely style were simply delicious and left us craving for more But just as nothing in this world is perfect, Villa Everest too, has its limitations. The approach to the hotel is through a narrow, congested road lined by shops on both sides and plied continually by vehicles, blowing dust and fumes into your nostrils. It's a good 20 minute walk from the Mall and not at all a pleasant one. Of course, it is not the fault of the owners, and worse still, it is beyond their control The second drawback of this property is that it doesn't have a lounge or a bar. So from the Mall you go straight into your room. There is no separate room to hang out with friends and family before dinner, that is quite a dampener If you could ignore these two aspects, you would enjoy your stay at Villa Everest. It's real value for money.
Nice family run hotel. Caring and honest staff with fairly quick service. Excellent view of Kanchanjunga from room No. 10. About 100 yrs old villa is converted into hotel. Room was neat, clean and maintained. Staff service was very good. I took breakfast in the hotel it was nice. Food quality was decent. Parking space was not available there. The service of the staff was very good and friendly, helpful and hygienic. Very beautiful hotel to stay with good cleanliness. It was overall excellent experience with good hotel.
Nice family hotel. Staff were caring and honest and provided fairly quick service. Excellent view of Kanchenjunga from room no. 10 About 100 years old villa is converted into a hotel. But very well maintained rooms. They don't have a restaurant. But nice tasty food served in the room. I found the room heater the most effective over all other hotels as it was an actual hot air blower type They arranged a car for sightseeing. I won't forget to mention the driver Amit was really very nice, honest & always smiling. His mob. No. 09832351588. He was the best and safe driver I saw in tour.
Villa Everest, to be honest, is one of the best value for money hotels I have stayed in. Mrs. Rita Edwards the owner is extremely cooperative with the hotel guests and lets you feel at home. The rooms are extremely spacious and comfortable, the staff always at your immediate service. One of the best things about the hotel is the behaviour of the owner and the staff members Only two things would make it even better, the strength of WiFi connection, and the dinner availability timings ( though it seems to be a trend in Darjeeling to eat early at night).
Room was neat, clean and well maintained. Staff service was very good. I took food breakfast in the hotel it was nice. Food quality was decent. Parking space was not available there. I hired a vehicle and reached the hotel. Nothing activities were available there. Hotel is little bit costly. Hotel location was little inconvenient. I went there with my family in May 2014. I will recommend this hotel for other travellers.
