We had a lovely stay in Matheran in this hotel. It is located in dense forest and very peaceful location. We had booked cottage room with double bed and basic amenities. The restaurant also served us breakfast and snacks which were delicious. The indoor pool was nicely maintained and the gaming room was well kept. Overall, a fantastic stay in the middle of Matheran forest.
It was really a wonderful time in Matheran we had spent. And this hotel Woodlands takes away all the credit. Awesome food, convenient location, professional, well trained staff, ever ready to help. The room we were provided was spacious and well maintained. We indeed had a good time in the hotel Woodsland. Recommended.
Nice services are provided by the hotel. Tasty food and awesome location. Neat and clean hotel and much more. Enjoyed living there. Spacious rooms, suitable for family. Sports and club house facilities were also very good. Near to all point like sunset point, sunrise point, monkey point. Very cool experience
We were at Matheran to spend our lovely weekend, and we have stayed in Woodlands hotel for 2 days, it was really a beautiful experience, maintained location, food is delicious, staff is polite and friendly. Prompt service, nice view outside the room, room is spacious and maintained. Definitely a recommendation from our family. Happy holidaying.
It was in sept 2015 we were in Matheran for a weekend trip and I have to admit this is the best hotel in the budget segment. Totally overwhelmed by the experience. Nice location, superb food, polite and friendly staff, prompt service. Spacious and well maintained room with nicely done interior. Affordable pricing is added advantage. My vote definitely up for this property. Recommended.
It was indeed a brilliant experience staying in this beautiful hotel, we have stayed for 3 days in Woodlands with the family, and the experience was overwhelming. Good location, surrounded by old tall trees, peaceful atmosphere, food is delicious, and the staff is polite and friendly. Best part is the spacious and maintained room here, definitely recommended.
Matheran is a very clean and green hill station. Lots of oxygen for the lungs and a good place for a walk in the woods. Horse riding and zip line are among the activities that one must try. Handmade leather chappals are souvenir to definitely buy. The Woodland hotel is a place to stay at because they provide all types of rooms e.g. From two beds to up to fourteen beds. Good place for family stay and lots of variety food served cooked by skilled chef. Matheran is best to visit during Monsoons and of course throughout the year too.
I stayed in Woodlands in February with my wife on a holiday. Matheran overall according to me is just a weekend getaway, nothing more than that as there is not much to do except for taking a few treks and has limited activities. Woodlands for that kind of a place costed quite a lot. Though the rooms are quite big and have decent amenities (Neat bathrooms, AC, in-room dining), it didn't feel very plush. The food by the pool though is quite a nice concept and we really liked it in the natural setting. The location of the hotel is decently central and takes about 7-10 minutes walk from the railway station - however it is lined with horse dumping so beware of that. Housekeeping can be better.
I will not spend too much prose on Matheran - which is the only automobile-free hill station in India. Selecting the right hotel is the key to a good experience. No doubt the stars matter, but the real thrill is in getting a good bargain. Woodlands Hotel is IMHO, one such place. The rooms are spic & span and the bathrooms are clean. The bedsheets cud be cleaner though. The hotel is a like a sprawling bungalow with a fairly large compound. There is a kids area with swings, slides and stuff. This was very important for me, since my 3 year old daughter enjoys swings more entertaining than Sunset Points! There is a badminton court and a TT table for those who cannot miss their sport for some great scenery! The Hotel is located about a kilometer from the main station - sufficiently insulated from the buzz & hundrum of the usual curio shops and chappal vendors (Matheran\'s speciality). Woodlands is conveniently located, and one can even walk to some points. The food is strictly vegetarian (which is an indication of clientele preferences), but its well cooked, healthy & will not cause an oil slick if dropped into Charlotte Lake (Matheran\'s sole water body). Since Matheran has no vehicles, the only means of transport are horses & hand-pulled single seater rickshaws (similar to Calcutta). The horses are part of the Matheran experience and a must-do. Quite a few horse-wallahs are stationed outside the hotel during the morning. The rickshaws are murder for your back. Word from the wise(?): In Matheran, never stay in a Hotel in the Market area or near the station. One can be surprised with the noise levels there, even without cars & buses. I took a weekend break just after Diwali & found that all hotels in Matheran were touting \'Diwali Packages\' which was just another word for inflexible 4D/3N packages at atrocious rates. Woodlands was an exception, which charged a very modest premium as compared to others. Booking can be done in Mumbai itself & the url to chk out is http://www.therightsite.com/woodlandshotel/.
A grossly underdeveloped destination under the garb of \'environmental conservation\'. I can only request the planners, municipal authorities or tourist department officials, who have a stake in Matheran, not to ensure that the area remains a shit hole under the garb of environment ?conservation?. The paths have to be levelled, with proper tarmac. The area needs proper signages and lighting arrangements. Other than some birds and destructive monkeys, Matheran has no ?wild life? to name of, so nothing will be ?disturbed? if the roads are developed. Battery operated vehicles can protect against vehicular pollution. Coolies doing backbreaking work over boulder-strewn paths is a shame and I wonder what foreigners think of it or write about it. I would say that it only proves that we are still savages at heart, without regard for human life or dignity. Lack of development and horseshit strewn all over, is not conservation. It is gross mismanagement and lack of vision. If the shortsighted stakeholders of Matheran want to see how forest areas can be developed, let them visit IIT Campus at Chennai (I would not say JNU Campus, New Delhi, lest I sound north-centric). Matheran is not a hill station. It?s a woody area on a certain elevation and needs to be seriously developed, right from its approach to its facilities. Otherwise there are a hundred such woody areas in India, from Kerala and Karnataka to Jharkhand. And these places are much better than Matheran can ever hope to be.
this is a good resort for an economical outing with famil, situated between the railway station and the car park, it is easy to reach. The serene and quiet surrounding the resort provide the perfect steps to start your Holiday. While the rooms are value for money, the service is on a different level all together. the staff memorises your names and is always available on call. The food is veg only, but extrmely delicious ( makes you wish they ran cookery classes for your wives as well). the meals are perfectly planned with heavy breakfast and light dinners. Equipped with a liabrary this resort is good for lazing around and just having fun.
The location of the hotel is very good and is close to all public transport. The ambience of the hotel was quite good and staff members were very good and sincerely professional in service. The room given to me was spacious and cleanly maintained with all the necessary amenities. The food served in the hotel was very good and delicious in taste. The hotel lacks in activity but that is not a problem considering the price. The destination is awesome to visit and hotel was just fantastic to stay and more than worth for money.
Exellent expierience.I would always love to stay at woodland hotel. Matheran is very nice place without any pollution and the hote\'s food is very good and also service is very good. Rooms are nice and cool.
