Yadagiri Gutta Overview

Ranked 1 of 25 sightseeing in Nalgonda

Yadagiri Gutta, also called as Sri Lakshminarasimha Swamy Temple, is a renowned temple of Narasimha Swamy (one form of Lord Vishnu). The temple is situated at a height of 300 ft, on a hill in the Nalgonda District. On the eve of the Brahmotsavam Festival, which is held in the month of March, Yedurkolu, the Celestial Wedding and Divya Vimana Rathotsavam, are celebrated with enthusiasm by the locals. The birthday of Lord Narasimha is also celebrated here, on the 28th of April, every year.

The name of this temple was derived from the name of Lord Narasimha. According to the legends, the place was named after a hermit called Yadavarishi, who religiously worshiped Lord Narasimha. Lord Narasimha, pleased with the hermit’s devotion, materialized in five different forms such as Jwala, Yogananda, Lakshminarasimha, Gandabherunda and Ugra. The first from of Lord Narasimha was so fiery, that the yogi requested him to appear him in a peaceful form, which he did by appearing along with his counterpart Lakshmi. This is the image worshipped inside the cave today.

Beautiful temple on the Hillock

Yadagirigutta is worth travelling as the Powerful Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy is abode on this hill.I visited this temple after a gap of two years. My last visit was on 1st January 2014 and after that I visited again now on 19th January 2016.Yadagirigutta is a hillock where Lord Narasimha Swamy manifested inside the rock. This Lord is one of the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu who has come to the earth, to kill the Demon Hiranyakashyap, father of Prahlada. In this Incarnation, Lord Vishnu takes the shape as Half Man and Half Animal Nara meaning Manhood and Simha meaning Lion. The legend says that the demon gets a boon from Lord Brahma that he would not be killed by a Man, Animal, Weapons, Day or Night and so on. Thus the Lord takes this shape. He is very ferocious after killing the demon and no one dares to reach him to make Him cool. Prahlad being a staunch devotee of Lord Vishnu approaches Lord Narasimha and makes Him cool. The surrounding places of this temple and the hill is being renovated and it is said that there is a proposal to lay a second ghat road. The Government has taken this temple as a prestigious and going ahead to make it Tirupathi of this state. The distance from Hyderabad to Yadagirigutta is about 70 Kms and because of the good and wide roads, it can be reached in less than one hour.We performed Suvarna Pushparchana and had the privilege of being in the temple for about 7 to 8 minutes and came out fully satisfied with the blessings of the Lord.

One of the seven temples of Narasimha Swamy

I heard from grandparents and others there are 7 Narasimha Swamy Temple located in Telugu state, so Yadagiri Gutta is one of them in seven temples.Coming to my experience at here is good. I have started at 8 am from Hyderabad and took Bus at Uppal Ring Road and it took 90mins to reach the temple. I reached the top of mountain by Bus, people can also choose auto for reaching top of mountain. I went directly to Dharsanam of Narasimha Swamy through 150 Rs tickets and people can also choose free dharshana, it took 1 hr for darshan of God at holidays, but when normal days it takes 10 mins.I have very nice experience at this place in good weather and mountain breeze.I wish devotes to visit the place and take mercy of god. I suggest to visit this place when you visit Hyderabad compulsory.

Pride of Telangana

I usually visit Yadagirigutta once in a month. The best way to go upside of gutta is by steps those are not as many as in Tirupati there might be less than 100 steps one can easily go. There will be gundam, bathrooms to bath, in my childhood I used to see fresh water and water level is also high but in recent times I never found fresh water and water level also. After bath if crowd is full just take 100 rupees ticket they will give one free Laddu for that ticket or else go for free darshan. After gutta on return journey you can go to Surendhrapuri it is also a very nice place and it takes a lot of time to see whole temple if you go for Kaladhamam.

Most famous temple

This is the most famous temple in Nalgonda district. The most powerful god Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy had became shila on the mountain by the wish of the rishi named Yadagiri and thereafter it is named as Yadagirigutta. The climate around this mountain is very pleasant.
