The whole zero point region is awesome.

We went to the yumthang valley and then all the way to Zero point. Both the journey and the destination from yumthang valley to zero point were awesome. I also liked the rhododendron reserve just after the valley.

Amazing views, fun in snow

Zero Point is the place where the civilian road ends near the India-China border. From here, only military vehicles are allowed further on a dirt road. It takes around 2 and half hours from Lachung and most people visit here in the morning because weather can get unpredictable after noon. It's located at more than 15000 feet in altitude, so a few people might have problem with breathing and the cold; it's advised to take things slow and wear multiple layers of warm clothing. . Also known as Yumesamdong, the place is very beautiful and lot of fun playing in snow. Additionally, the views are spectacular when driving to/from this place - desolate and barren but grand and humbling. There are a few shops selling hot drinks, soft drinks, booze and some hot snacks (special mention for the steaming hot chana chaat and spicy aloo dum). There are not many facilities here but basic things like toilets are there (a little up the hill).

Good and tiring ride.

Truly speaking nothing enthralled me about the zero point after reaching there. Its just more hills and mountains. But the drive to the place is adventurous. Good part. The flower valley is also good experience. Roads again bad. Prepare accordingly.

Magnificent mountain view

Yumesamdong is also called "Zero Point".The drive to Zero point or Yumesamdong is breathtaking. Spring waters, snow capped mountains, drive through Rhododendron forest and along Valley of flowers. How can it be anything less than breathtaking. It is a little tedious drive as we drive through rough roads in parts. Zero point is the last motorable Road in Lachung, North Sikkim and also starting point of Teesta river. Lots of snow for children to play with followed by hot Maggi sold by locals. Make sure kids are well covered as it is very windy and cold in spite of the sun shining brightly. Please avoid, if you have small kids:An hour uphill drive from Yumthang, mostly through patchy roads - this place is good if you haven't found snow anywhere on your trip before. At 14500 feet, both my 8y and 5y old kids suffered breathing troubles after 10 mins there. It was -5 degrees with worse windchill of about -10C.From Lachung the zero point is about 40 km and hence will take around 3 hours to reach. Prepare yourself for rough ride. The point is the last motorable road and one can view beautiful snow clad mountains around it. During my visit there was small area covered on land with snow. The oxygen is very thin so you will exhaust yourself soon but not to worry as various snacks stalls are already there to serve you Maggi, momos, chana masala and other delicacy. As the area is less visited by tourist nature lovers will enjoy the solitude.

Unbelievable Yumesamdong !!!

Top of the World !!!I went to Lachung on 26th March 2016 and enjoyed a lot, a visit to Yumesamdong (Zero Point) will be a once in a lifetime experience, it's like a place where we are standing on top of the World !!!How much ever I try to explain about my experience over there, I can't do justice with the words, it's the experience we should experience for the experience sake !!!It's 1-1.5hrs journey to Yamathung Valley and another 30minutes to this unbelievably wonderful place on earth !!! See my photos to imagine what this place will look like.Note: Mt.Katao is another place we should not miss when we are in Lachung as it is not listed in TripAdvisor places to visit in Lachung, it's just 25 km from Lachung and 1hour drive, please don't miss it, bargain hard to get a cab for INR 1000 - 1500/- depending upon the season, it's absolutely worth it.

A wonderful destination at 15000ft

Yumesamdong, popularly known as zero point as road almost ends here. Magnificent natural view from such high altitude. Snow is everywhere. Journey starts from lachung, crossing yumthang valley. Ascend up to zero point. Proper permit required. Endless beauty like real paradise. Snow peaks all around, snow drizzling, snow covered roads, snow over river stream or lakes. Lifetime enjoyment.

The zero point

This is another major attraction to take you to Lachung. Entirely smothered with snow from December to May, this place is all pleasant and appealing to the eyes. Make a complete trip if you are staying in Lachung for at least 2 days to be enamored by its beauty.
