The topography of Ranikhet is vastly varied since it has uneven terrain that includes valleys, rocky climbs, chasms and meadows. Diverse species of flora like pine, oak and deodar trees, streams and orchards along with numerous hidden mountain viewpoints which makes it a trekker's haven.

Pulkit Mehta shares his experience of staying at Holm Farm Heritage. He says: We visited Ranikhet in October (3rd Oct) and were looking for peace and a place where we can feel the nature more closely. Holm Farm Heritage was definitely the best choice if you are looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay. Loved the early morning walk in forest behind the hotel and delicious breakfast. Also the flora and fauna near the resort is just amazing!

2. Tungnath - Chandrashila Peak

Tungnath situated at an altitude of 3810 metres, is the highest of all temples in Uttarakhand Himalayas. The trek begins at Chopta, the ascent keeps on getting steeper as you get near the Tungnath temple. The initial leg of the route has pure stretches of Rhododendron forests which flower in late March to mid May.

Tip: The trek that can be undertaken round the year, except during heavy snowing months of December and January.

3. Bhadraj Hill Trek

Tip: The trek can be completed in a day but we recommend taking 2 days and enjoying an overnight stay on the mountain top.

4. Hatu Peak Trek

8 km from Narkanda, the road is surrounded by pine and spruce trees. On top of the hill, ancient Hatu Mata temple is located. The peak offers spectacular view of the entire Himalayan ranges, snow clad mountains and in depths are the dense forests, green fields and apple orchards.

Tarun Jai talks his about rejuvenating stay at Seetalvan Orchard. He says: We felt mentally and physically recharged after our weekend stay. The resort is very well made and is in the middle of an apple orchard surrounded by apple trees.Our room was huge with a fantastic view and had a private wooden verandah.

Tip: The frozen water reservoir near the summit makes a perfect ice skating rink.

My family enjoyed the stay and even my children had quite enough activities to do. This place is for all types of people, that's what I like about this place compared to other places.

Tip: Churdhar trek can be attempted from Nohradhar or Chaupal. The more popular route among trekkers is from Nohradhar.

6. Dayara Bugyal Trek

Kafni glacier lies just close to Pindari glacier. The valley is broader than Pinder valley and rhododendrons here are especially very beautiful. You can see Nanda Kot and Nanda Bhanar from here.

Arvind talks about his stay at KMVN rest house. He shares: The hotel was quite attractive and was having plenty of space. All the customers were not disturbed unnecessarily and the services were courteous. All the rooms were big and comfortable. The prices too were affordable. The view was good and amazing.

Tip: Base camp for Kafni glacier is Song, which is a 45 kilometer trek from here to the glacier. The trail to reach the glacier crosses the villages of Saung, Loharkhet, crosses over the Dhakuri Pass, continues onto Khati village (the last inhabited village on the trail), Dwali, Parkia and finally Zero Point, Pindar, the end of the trail.

The trek over Pin Parvati Pass is one of the most challenging and adventurous trek that requires lot of physical stamina and mental strength. Staff was good and courteous. One can enjoy not only natural beauty but also biking, bonfire and a few games. Local food is also available. Cottages are very good and neat and clean.

Tip: Follow the Pindar river till Warbham and then Sunderdhunga stream to get to Jatoli which is 15kms away. The trek to Dodi Thong is challenging but is only 8 km from Jatoli.
