From Leh, a rough road running north from the Khardung La Pass leads to Nubra Valley. This is the highest pass in the world where motor vehicles are allowed. The valley and its nearby areas not only have snow-clad mountains, but are also home to ruined palaces and ancient gompas that throw light on the glorious past of the destination. HolidayIQ Traveller Vishal says, "I recently traveled from Leh to Nubra Valley. The journey itself was amazing and in between, we crossed Khardungla Top (highest motorable pass of the world). We went up to Hunder sand dunes and enjoyed amazing two hump camel rides there."

Lepakshi is one of the most important historical and archaeological villages in India and should be a must on any bucket list. HolidayIQ Traveller Syamala says, "Worth a visit, especially on a cool or a monsoon day. Lovely road all the way from Bangalore. Can cover the distance in less than 3 hours on a Sunday city traffic. Lovely temple, serene, good sculptures. Great clean maintenance by ASI. Suggest using a guide to explain. Makes the visit richer. Food at AP Tourism is simple, clean and tasty."

To find peace and solace, Kutch is one of the ideal destinations in the country. HolidayIQ Traveller Megha tells you just why it should be on your bucket list, "Kutch is extremly beautiful during the festival rann utsav. The folk dance, camel ride, full moon, the bonfire and the colourful attires, makes it all. Buy painted pottery, wooden carvings, chaniya choli with hand embroidery, mirror work and bandhini in vibrant colours. Apart from all this, do not miss to take a ride around the city in the Chhakdas. They are colourful modes of transport which are like a cross between a semi-covered motorcycle and an auto rickshaw."

THis should definitely be on your bucket list if you want to escape civilization for some time and do some introspection. HolidayIQ Traveller Sharmeen says, "One can never have enough of such natural beauty. It was an amazing experience. Would love to visit again. It is better if you can stay at one of the camps for the night and enjoy the sun rise behind the mountains. Just take a stroll along the lake in the evening or early morning. It is very cold so heavy woollens recommended."

9. Hampi

Indulge yourself in some history and behold the ruins of Vijaynagar empire in Hampi. HolidayIQ Traveller Jyoti says, "The colour of this place is sepia with patches of greenery around. Coconut trees, banana fields and mango trees add to the drama. The undeveloped landscape is covered with natural boulders perched upon one another defying the laws of gravity. It feels as if they are romancing in unique positions. It is one of the most unique sites one could ever experience in India. And the best part is, it always leaves you wondering about the story behind each boulder. These boulders are living witness of the mighty Vijayanagara Empire of the 13th century. I am awe-inspired and in love with this place."

10. Sanchi Stupa

There is no specific time of the year to visit this place but one should be equipped with the basic requirements such as water, cap/hat or even some lotion if travelling during summer. Take the camera along without fail. Get some souvenirs.
