Nestled among the higher peaks of Kunchenjungha is this lake that stays frozen all winter. Visit it to know the religious significance or to just cleanse your soul. Stay close by in Lachen, which is as quaint as it gets.

Manas offers you his advise: "This is a place where you will feel like you are in heaven. This place has very less oxygen content, you can spend an hour in the surrounding. If you face a problem in this place don't worry Indian Army is always there for you help. The pristine blue water and crystal clear sky will make you feel in awe. You need to spend a night in Lachen village and visit this place next warm morning."

Shikaras, the warm Kashmiri hospitality, floating markets, the splendour of the lake. Expect all these things from Dal lake - it never disappoints. Stay in a shikara and make it an experience to cherish.

Varun tells you just what it is all about: "The Dal Lake is located in Srinagar on boulevard road. It is a huge and fresh water lake. The shikara ride is must. Houseboats are also available for accommodation. Food is also available. Floating market is available on shikaras where Kashmiri made goods and saffron is sold."

3. Loktak Lake, Imphal

Make your experience count as this is one unique lake. Known as the floating lake, this one is picture perfect to say the least. Plan a stay in Imphal for a memorable experience.

A. Majumdar gives you some insight: "Loktak lake is a very large lake and an important source of hydroelectricity and vegetables. The beauty of the lake is its vastness and floating gardens. We loved to stay here in Sendra Park & Resort. The nearby Keibul Lamjao National Park is an important spot. Here the rare Sangai Deer is available. One can enjoy boating in the lake."

4. Lake Pangong Tso, Ladakh

Yes, this is the lake in which Anushka Sharma jumps in the movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Amir lives near in 3 Idiots. Once you're here, you'll know why Bollywood chooses this spot as a location.

Don't skip Anuj's useful tips: "Amazing to see culmination of so many colours at a single place. It's very cold out there and you will have to stay at a camp. It's freezing cold and you will need 4-5 blankets to cover yourself. Food is normal, you can't expect to get non-veg over here. Sunrise is must watch. Go, explore and click as much as you can. The 3 Idiots point needs a special mention. Nothing can come closer to the beauty of that small land between the waters."

5. Lake Tso Moriri, Ladakh

Enter a landspace so serene, it almost seems surreal. It's the less popular cousin of Pangong lake and offers a calm atmosphere and expansive views.

Amit suggests you to visit this place: "Another majestic lake, Tsomoriri is no less beautiful than the more popular Pangong Tso. One camp at the nearby village or stay with the locals for a night. On a clear full moon night, Tsomoriri is enchanting."
