1. Fort Kochi Beach in Kochi

Fort Kochi is a tiny village close to the suburbs of the main city. With picturesque beaches all along the coastline, you can see the famed Chinese fishing nets and sailing ships. This beach is regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in Kerala

Fort Kochi Beach is around 12 km away from the Kochi city.

2. Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari

Vivekananda Rock Memorial is dedicated to Swami Vivekananda, was built between 1963 and 1970 in red and blue granite. It is situated on the top of a rock island, at a height of about 17 meters above sea level, covering an area of about 6 acres.  

HolidayIQ reviewer S.N. Shetty says, "You have to travel on the ferry in order to visit this place. Per head fare is Rs 34/- and enter into the Vivekananda Rock is Rs 20/-. Ferry drive is about 10 minutes. You have to enter the place without chappals or shoes. There is a counter where you can keep your chappals and shoes. The view is breathtaking from the Rock."

Vivekananda Rock Memorial is about 490 meters offshore nearby the confluence of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean. 

3. Ross Island in Port Blair

Ross Island is a popular tourist spot with remnants of the Victorian British era. Some of the remains of British era that can be seen on the island include old buildings like the chief commissioner's house, Presbyterian Church, state ballroom, an old Andamanese home bakery, swimming pool and a hospital. 

HolidayIQ reviewer Arnav says, "The perfect outing includes getting packed lunch and enjoying it in the lush green lawns and thereafter taking a long stroll and interacting with the deer and occasionally feeding them as well. The island can be reached by ferries which ply from Port Blair to Ross and the tickets have to be pre-booked."

Ross Island is about 2 km from Port Blair.

4. The Lighthouse beach in Kovalam

The Lighthouse beach, a long stretch of sand, is located along the Malabar Coast which is the largest among the three in Kovalam. At the southern end stands a 30-metre high lighthouse and the beach is named after it, being the prime attraction of the place. Water sports like swimming, parasailing and surfing can be enjoyed at this beach.

HolidayIQ reviewer Monika says, "This is the first thing you should do in Kovalam. You can go up to the lighthouse to have a wonderful view of Kovalam, come down and have a dip in the water, come out take a shower (paid washrooms) and do some shopping and eating at the bistros. Also can have a walk towards Kovalam (Hawa) beach and enjoy some small hawkers selling delicious snacks(bhelpuri, panipuri) etc."

From the main city of Kovalam, its 2.8 km via Beach Road.


5. Rabindranath Tagore Beach in Karwar

Soft and ideal for sunbathing, Rabindranath Tagore beach has some major attractions. Water sports such as fishing, boating, snorkelling and kayaking among others. Many cultural events are held here at the regional, national and international level. The beach also has a park where children can enjoying playing games.

HolidayIQ reviewer Manisha says, "Very quiet, calm and pristine beach. It was for this beach that we spent 4 hours while moving back to base. We did not expect so much beauty in the sky during the sunset." HolidayIQ reviewer Ami Bhat says, "This is one of the main beaches in Karwar. The beach is very well maintained and quite clean. There are no sudden depths in the water making it easier to wade or swim in."

The beach is located around 3 km from Karwar in the Arabian Sea.

6. Om beach in Gokarna

Encircled by the scenic beauty of dense palm trees and ancient temples, Om Beach is beautiful presenting itself in the shape like the auspicious Om. You can enjoy activities like surfing, skiing and banana boat cruises here. In addition, this beach has some huts and tea shops as well.

HolidayIQ reviewer Sendil says, "You can go anytime, sunrise or sunset. Sometimes you can even find dolphins. You need to be a little careful while going to the water. Water rides are good and a fun-lover can go for banana boating." 

 Located at a distance of about 7 km from Gokarna.

7. Beach no. 5, Havelock in Viper Island

Inhabited by Bengalis, Havelock is home to various species of marine life like dolphins, fish and turtles. Dolphin watching in the waterfront is a major activity in this island. Activities like swimming, sunbathing, snorkelling, surfing and beach camping are other options. The island is also known for its views of sunset and sunrise.

HolidayIQ reviewer Raja says, "At Andaman, this has to be the best beach, in terms of the access to the beach and in terms of the comfort. Overall look and feel, none other can match this. I couldn't find anything negative to say about this wonderful Island seaside."

You need to take a 3 and a half hours ferry from Post Blair
