The Chembra peak is Chembra is Wayanad's highest peak, at 6800 ft. The trail winds up through forests, shola grasslands and tea estates till you reach the misty summit to a heart shaped Hridaya Saras lake. You also pass the Meenmutti Waterfalls are on the way. Dhanagiri provides your good information and required permissions to go on this trek.

The Eddakal caves are naturally formed caves that have pictorial descriptions that date back between 5000 and 10,000 BC. The descriptions depict many things from ways of life to the region's flora and fauna of the era. Many illustrations are yet to be deciphered. Truly, a window to a bygone era. 

Mohan shares with HolidayIQ, "At first it seems just like a normal walk but later it turned out to be a mini trekking. Steep slopes leading all the way and as it was heavy rush due to the long weekend, it was lucky there was no stampede but otherwise thrilling."

Wayanad is surrounded by protected biosphere areas, including the Muthanga and Wayanad wildlife sanctuaries. This biosphere is home to the endangered vulture, Tiger, black leopards and elephants among other endemic species of flora and fauna.  

HolidayIQ explorer Senthil says, "We had a great safari. We were able to see herds of elephants and deer during the safari. I would recommend the morning safari at 6.30 am, as it is the best time to see animals. We also saw lot of birds in their natural habitat. "

Thirunelli temple is surrounded by forests of the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, this is an island of spirituality in a wild untamed pristine wilderness. The shrine has 30 granite columns and the ground is paved with huge square pieces of granite. The divine Papanasini river runs beside the temple and is a spectacular sight. 

HolidayIQ scout Deepak says, "The temple is well situated in the middle of Western Ghats. Best time to visit is during sunset. The route is very dangerous in the evening and night as you come across wild animals. It is safe while travelling in Car, bike riding is somewhat dangerous."

Wayanad is home to some of the oldest coffee estates in this part of India. The terrain and landscape provide excellent conditions for coffee cultivation. The estates here are very hospitable and it's a great chance to learn about everything there is to know about how coffee reached you kitchen shelf! 

Hanuman Kamma shares, "We spent two days at Dhangiri during January 2016. A great place to stay. Peaceful, well maintained, great service and nice food. Rooms are nice and are surrounded by coffee plantations, provides a great view early in the morning. Staff, especially appu was very helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and strongly recommend it."

The Kabini River flows through Wayanad. The river flows through very scenic valleys of the western ghats and provides excellent conditions for bamboo rafting.
