Always be safe and alert while driving in the hilly areas like Cherrapunji as the road are narrow at some places with sharp turns. HolidayIQ Traveller Srejith shares, “The journey from Shillong to Cherrapunjee is a great experience through some unique landscapes. One can see patches of pasture lands, cliffs, deep forests and yes, the plains of Sylhet in Bangladesh. On the way to Cherrapunjee there is a small waterfall. There is also a newly discovered cave on the way, which is worth a visit.”

The perfect road trip for a couple driving to the hills, the 293km from Delhi to Pangot passes through the Cheena peak range and Kilbury birding spot. Pangot is a quiet village a short distance from Nainital and offers exclusivity with a view of the mighty Himalayas.

HolidayIQ Traveller Aritro Dasgupta from Gurgaon shares, “Pangot is what one can categorize as heaven on earth, an idyllic destination. Pangot is actually one of those remaining untouched spots of natural beauty. Ideal for bird watching early morning. There are some good resorts in this area. As the place is so remote, the costs are a bit high. One can view the majestic panoramic view from Pangot.”
