When you want to go to Bomdila, the travel from Guwahati to Bomdila is rough and tough. But once you reach this place you forget all the troubles, bad road, pathetic food etc.Fond of Buddhism or not, the monasteries give you so much mental peace that you would always return back to work fresh with good and heavenly thoughts."

The place is lovely with a beautiful curves on the road while going up about 14 km. With greenery all around on the hills, a lake with boating facility. A park for the children near the lake. There are few walking trails, a Shiva temple on one of the hills etc. We had a lovely weekend with beautiful weather and a wonderful drive from and to Bangalore."

HolidayIQ Traveller P Yesuthasen says, "Coonoor is where I was born and brought up so I tend to look at this holiday destination through rose tinted glasses. Notwithstanding my bias, the crowds that throng the town, not only in summer, but all year round, are testimony to its popularity.Smaller than the more famous Ooty and less crowded, it has a charm of its own."

8. Solan

HolidayIQ Traveller Gita says, "While Solan itself is rather congested, the area around has many places to stay for a serene holiday. It would be nice to hire a car and drive down the winding hill roads while the most breathtaking scenery rushes by. A motorcycle would also be a good option. The Yung Drung Tibetan Monastery is a must see but there are many other popular destinations. Food and drink is in no short supply as one finds large numbers of options along the road to suit all tastes and budgets from posh hotels to small roadside dhabas. Fruit juice and fruit wines are sold at regular outlets along the way. While I'm sure there are activities to do, merely relaxing on a balcony and enjoying the cloud wreathed hills is bliss enough."
