We all talk about the life lessons we learnt by travelling, but rarely do we divulge how travel changes you as a person.

8 Ways Travel Will Ruin You Forever:

  1. Chitkul (Himachal Pradesh)
  2. Wayanad (Kerala)
  3. Poovar Island, Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala)
  4. Maravanthe (Karnataka)
  5. Rourkela (Odisha)
  6. Kullu (Himachal Pradesh)
  7. Udaipur (Rajasthan)
  8. Tadoba (Maharashtra)

1. You’ll Never Feel At Home Again

You’ll never be completely home again because a part of your heart will always be somewhere else. HolidayIQ Traveller Bharat K from Bhuj shares, “A quiet little village literally at the end of the road. A signpost proudly announces you have reached the end of the road as you stare at the beautiful Tibetan mountains. Picturesque place for a day's picnic. Try to reach in the morning and get back to Baspa before it gets too hot, else you could get caught in rushing river streams that bloat up with the melting ice.”

2. Everything Will Be Pale In Comparison To Travelling

Nothing will ever come close to thrill you experience on the road. Like the time you hitchhiked across a dense forest or the joy of reaching the summit after a long trek. You’ll long for the freedom being on the road offers. HolidayIQ Traveller Sandra Santhosh C shares, “There are no enough words to describe Wayanad. It’s truly the Gods own place with its mesmerizing natural beauty. I really loved the place. The Soochipara Waterfalls, Kuruva Islands, Champara etc. are some must go spots of the place. The view from the mountain tops tends to steal our breath away. It’s a life time experience.”

3. Money Won’t Matter Like It Did Before

You’ll no longer be able to spend an exorbitant amount of money on bags, clothes, spa sessions or a phone without feeling remorseful. You’ll start measuring everything in terms of flights and accommodation.

4. Your Family And Friends Will Envy You

You’ll be that person who starts all conversations with “When I was travelling”. HolidayIQ Traveller Bhaskar Maravanthe shares, “Its memorable place,i think this type of place like one side see another side river we can see in two place one is Norway another one Maravanthe. September to march is the best time to visit.”

5. Your Career Will No Longer Be A Priority

It’s true that travel will strip you of everything that used to make you happy but what you acquire in this trade-off is much more valuable. Your essential inspiration will never again be cash but experiences. You'll begin to ache for that surge of adrenaline, your break, your next ticket. HolidayIQ Traveller Krupasindh Satapathy from Bhadrak shares, “I visited Rourkela, it is a nice place and it's called the green city of Odisha. I enjoyed the beauty of trees, and many temples like hanuman vatika, vaishno devi temple and many more. The food at Rourkela like gupchup and fast food was good. Rourkela is the silver city where steel plant was established. Overall, a very nice place of Odisha. I like the place a lot.”

6. Travel Will Strip You Off Your Ego

Travel will make you question your existence. You’ll lose yourself and find the real you. All the labels, pretentious armors we carry around will be left behind. You’ll stop following the herd and do things just because you want to. HolidayIQ Traveller Radha Bordia from Mumbai shares, “Based in the Himalayas, with lush green mountains on either side, and Beas River on the other side. A picturesque view. Kullu is famous for its River Rafting. Kullu also is a base camp for many treks. These treks take you to places in the district which are accessible only on foot or the Hybrid Donkey. Hence Chandrakhani Pass, Sar Pass are a must. Treks are organised every year by YHAI to these unexplored places. Nature walks are also a must try.”

7. Travel Will Make You Humble

Travel will make you realise that you don’t really own anything. Stranded in a small town with just a few clothes, a backpack and few hundred rupees will make you realise that how strong you really are. You have to rely on the kindness of strangers and their generosity will make more generous to those in need. HolidayIQ Traveller Rakchika Shekhar from Patna shares, “Udaipur is definitely the gem of Rajasthan. Anyone who is expecting a nice laid back holiday experience must visit Udaipur. My husband and I visited Udaipur in the month of July, which is supposed to be onset of monsoon in India. But as we know Rajasthan receives less rainfall compared to other states, July was a good time indeed. The perfect combination of beautiful lakes, mountains and the palaces makes the view oh so panoramic. What I absolutely loved about this place is its people. The locals are really sweet and humble towards tourists.”

8. You’ll Never Be The Same Person

Travel will throw you out of comfort zone, test you to your core, scare you and make you strong. HolidayIQ Traveller Mohammad Suleman Baig from Nagpur shares, “During my walks and safaris in and around Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), Chandrapur, I became more and more interested in butterflies. I got attracted by their diversity in color, shape and size. From then on I wanted to learn more about these amazing creatures and I started photographing and identifying them so I could find more information about the species I encountered in the jungle.”
