It's the city’s soul, crammed with jewellery, fabric, and electronics shops, and a great place to sample some of Delhi’s famous street food. HolidayIQ Travellers take you through Chandni Chowk.

Did You Know Chandni Chowk Has Asia's Biggest Camera Market? Things You Simply Cannot Miss Here:

  1. Delhi

If you visit Chandni Chowk the ‘metro way’ the ‘Laal Mandir’ will stand right  next to you! This is definitely hard to miss. The focal devotional room has images and statues of revered Jain figures such as Lord Mahavira and Lord Parasnath. There’s a bird hospital on the temple compound.

HolidayIQ Traveller Ashwin Sinha shares, “Chandni Chowk is a great place for bridal shopping, fun and to grab food. Sheesh Ganj, Gurudwara, Red Fort, Jama Masjid etc. are all tourist spots of Delhi. Do not forget to visit Jain Temple.”

2. Go To The Renowned Jalebiwala

Old jalebi wala is a landmark address in itself and is located at the entrance of Dariba in Chandni Chowk, just near the Gurudwara. Pause to fuel up on delicious sticky jalebis.

HolidayIQ Traveller Naveen says, “There is the old jalebi wala in Chandni Chowk that serves jalibis with thick rabri. This place has been serving delicious jalebis for ages; but for the uninitiated, Old Famous Jalebiwala is the place to visit to have the best jalebis in town."

3. And The Famous Paranthas From Gali Paranthe Wali

Turn left back on the Kinari Bazaar lane and follow your nose to Paratha Wali Gali, a lane veering to the right, devoted to little eateries specializing in parathas. The aloo paratha is a favourite and no wonder, it's to die for! If you're in the mood to try something different, try the paratha stuffed with crushed badam

HolidayIQ Traveller Chiku Sethiya says, “Paranthe wali gali is a must visit when in old Delhi. Food in Delhi is mouth watering. From spicy to sweet, from paranthe at the paranthe wali gali to lassi and lime water every taste is available.” HolidayIQ Traveller Rishi Jain suggests Babu Ram Paranthe.

Only few people know that within Chandni Chowk lies Asia’s biggest camera market. Photo Market on the Esplanade Road has some hundreds of small shops offering various ranges of latest still and video cameras and accessories. This is wholesale market and most professional photographers come here to buy albums, lenses, filters, tripods, battery and camera bags etc. One of the oldest shop is Pritam Studio, owned and run by a Sardar.

HolidayIQ Traveller Nittin from Mumbai shares, “The lanes are very narrow so the place appears to be very crowded and chaotic. Its one of the biggest whole sale market in Delhi. Remember that the price which the shopkeeper quotes is negotiable. It becomes annoying while crossing the lanes as the shopkeepers will ask you to buy things forcibly and pull you hand and will try to drag you to their shop. Be very firm to ignore if you don't wanna buy.”

Another ironical fact is that the smallest of the gallis lead to the most famous and highly recommended shops! This fact will always leave you bewildered, and till you don’t reach your destination, you’ll definitely doubt your decision of visiting this place!

HolidayIQ Traveller Sudhanshu Sharma shares, “Its basically a old part of New Delhi known Delhi-6 but beyond old aged you have got all the latest tech marvel including gaming console, mobiles, everything at a throwaway price moreover the place is heaven for foodies, Mughlai food is speciality over here and paratha wali gali is phenomenal.”
